giving it a spin. smells very high quality. it's got that old school chypre sort of vibe with a modern twist. the aromatics are very in line with more vintage smelling masculines with a minty sort of citrus. the woody note has a very nice sort of depth without being overbearing. the opening in particular is fireworks, zesty citrus smacks you in the face over leathery woods. has an awesome fruityness to it too, that part is amazing. but then it gets more dark & vintage smelling. i'm not the biggest fan of the retro genre but this absolutely buries the likes of Roja Apex for example.

having tested this properly have decided it is not entirely for me. i am not too fond of scents with a certain old school vibe and this is what you get in the drydown - a slightly sweet, aromatic herbal & woody aroma. having said that the quality is remarkable in the designer segment and the top notes are incredible. if the scent remained like it did around the opening it would be a smash, the yuzu/pepper blast over leathery woods smells a lot like something you got in early Aventus though it obviously goes in another direction. i can't stress enough how good the top note is here, a shame the rest of the scent is not structured in a way that carries the candied yuzu/pepper accord through the drydown.
