The fragrance notes are for reference. When they send out the survey form for evaluators, it will be very specific. It is a nice general reference to have. There is an email contact on the email you received for any further questions.

Oh, I see. Thank you!

Can't wait to receive mine. Going to have so much fun with all the different formulations I have.

Only thing is I'm hopeless at writing descriptions identifying the different notes. Perhaps that's why I don't post here very often.

How do you get different versions?

I asked them thousand times and they say its only one formulation per people.

We are thinking about creating a special order link exclusively for Basenotes users that will not require you to register. This will also insure that Basenotes members will be able to buy the product, and evaluate it for us. Will this be of benefit to the fantastic Basenotes family.

We have gotten some wonderful questions from the readers of Basenotes (that does not mean we answered them all, but we liked the questions :) , and we would really value the participation of "your noses".

We will answer all the questions including perfumers, background, history, fragrance notes, etc. once our evaluation and survey is complete and when we get ready to actually launch the official release. We want you to be able to make an intelligent purchase.

We are seeking input from the evaluators at the moment and not trying to sell a fragrance. We will most certainly be trying to "sell it" in the fall, and hopefully by word of mouth, it will sell itself

We have created a special "Basenotes" link so Basenotes subscribers do not need to register with us, can participate in the evaluation and also get Priority Mail next day shipping. We have submitted the link to Basenotes for approval prior to posting.

He noticed.

He?

Bobbierobertson, as I mentioned to you before, it isn't okay to have more than one active account, especially when participating in the same thread and it seems you are sharing a computer with Jean Desprez.

Mine arrived today. I'm already perfumed for now but will give it a try later.

What does your bottle look like? I got mine today. It is a footed circle bottle and looks like the BAV bottles. Mine has no label. There is writing on the bottle and it says: "CREE PAR Jean Desprez". Then it has another word which I think says: "PLATINE" (maybe). Then "2011", all in a silver marker. PLATINE was also written on the outside of the box which was inside the Priority Mail box used for shipping. It is really a nice scent. Kind of a sparkly citrus. I'm not great a describing fragrances... but that is what I'm getting.

Mine was sent off on 31st March, but it's not arrived yet.

However my boyfriend kindly offered ( blackmailed more like ) to purchase another bottle for me. It was posted 4th April and arrived yesterday.

Standard shape BAV bottle handwritten in gold pen with CREEPAR and Jean Desprez on one side and Gold 2011 on the other.

Briefly I'm afraid it's instant dislike and makes me quite nauseous. I won't be spraying it again. It smells very similar to another scent I cannot identify yet. Memory is bad! Doesn't smell anything like BAV and I will cry if JD issues this. The concentration is high, which is good as it is long lasting compared to the Genesis formulation on my other hand.

Not very good at describing perfume, but it appears to me to be much too floral, sickly sweet and, dare I say, cheap smelling and none of the timeless elegance the old formulation ( even Genesis ) had.

I will comment further direct to JD once the email ( via BF email ) has come in. But I sincerely hope JD doesn't decide to issue this as the 'one'.

Looking forward to receiving mine soon and hope I've been sent a different one.

It has occurred to me why are JD issuing these different formulations when all we want is the original one.

Just my opinion.

Thank you kindly for taking the time to comment. It was not the response we were expecting, but that is why we are doing an evaluation with our loyal customers instead of a focus group. A fragrance is a very personal thing, and we would rather have strong feelings positive and/or negative, than a mediocre reaction. There was no cutting of corners as far as the ingredients go, we know the high standards BAV consumers expect. If you do not receive your bottle in the next couple of days, please email us directly at [email protected] - and we will follow up. Your order was shipped the exact same way as your Boy Friends. Once the evaluation is complete, we will give everyone time to use it, and then a survey will be sent out. We do not want to skew the results with any specific comments as it relates to the formulations. Once again, thank you for participating, and thank you for your honesty and sincerity.

My bottle looks exactly the same, but substitute "Gold" for "Platine," and written with a gold marker instead of silver.

The scent is a heavy oriental gourmand and reminds me of Angel and some other scents in this category I've tried.

Thanks for being so understanding. It has provoked a very strong reaction ( no pun intended) in me which is ultimately and quite rightly what your company has set out to achieve.

Funnily enough mine arrived this morning and it's 'Gold' again which is disappointing. But I can take it on the chin because I still find it exciting participating in the evaluation.

I would like to sample the 'Platine' so perhaps something could be arranged with another forum member here and we can swop.

Angel...of course!

But JD's objective should be to make BAV unique. So I will stand by what I said before and urge JD to aim for the original gorgeous fragrance that was BAV.

Does anyone else have Platine?

To me it smells a lot like D&G Light Blue. Of course I do not have an expert nose, but they are very, very close.
Unfortunately I dislike Light Blue; it's just not the style of fragrance I wear.

{EDIT: Platine is stronger]

Because BAV is so wonderfully one-of-a kind I was hoping for something with more of an edge.
