Both versions are great. The old screw cap has a bit more oomph to it. The newer version is smoothed out a bit. Clearly the same scent, the new version is not a hollow shell of what it once was. The magnetic cap actually wears better year round in my climate. Performance is essentially the same for me, for the day. The following morning the original is extremely quiet but clearly present, and the newer is lighter. There’s not enough difference in smell or performance to panic about getting the original. I highly recommend both.



My SOTD is Lataffa’s Asad. I’ve been told that YouTuber’s recommend it as an Sauvage Elixir clone. I do not. Is it in a similar style? Sort of. It’s clearly taken its inspiration from Elixir. I can’t recommend it as a 1:1 clone of Elixir but I can recommend it as it’s own good smelling fragrance that has absolutely outstanding performance. It’s a commitment when you wear it, because it’s what you will smell like all day. FWIW, Mrs. Diddy has stated numerous times that Elixir “smells ok”, when asked, but gives unsolicited compliments to Asad. I prefer Elixir but enjoy Asad very much. Asad will cost you $40usd with free shipping. Elixir will cost way more. Asad is an exceptional value.

Creed Ambre Canelle

A happy accident, actually. I thought I was grabbing Royal Scottish Lavender, but was in a hurry, and couldn't quite see what I was doing. "All Creeds are grey caps caps in the dark," a quote variously attributed to Benjamin Franklin and Socrates, I think.

In any case, a fine fragrance. Wears a bit feminine, and heavy for a summer day. Good thing I'm working from home.
