Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet, as I’ve been traveling with work. My SOTN is a fragrance I blind bought today in an airport duty free…

L’Homme Idéal Platine Privé​

I’m a bit disappointed. On one hand I absolutely like it. I am a fan of Ideal Cologne, and this is a lighter version of Cologne with just a barely perceptible amount of citrus and neroli added. And that’s the issue I have with it - it’s uninspired and nothing new. This is literally a reworking of Cologne with a different name. And also because of that, it’s still a good fragrance. Smells great but with little presence and slightly below average longevity. This is great for church or places where you need something light and clean. If you have Cologne, you don’t need this. And if you’re going for a citrus and Neroli fragrance, this will likely be a let down. Especially at retail price, as there are many cheaper options in this spectrum. Guerlain should have named it Ideal Cologne Nice. And with all my negative comments, I’m still enjoying the wearing.

This one is underrated. Great stuff!

I’ve actually enjoyed every iteration of Original Santal. Even though newer bottling lacks the oomph of the older stuff, it still smells nice to me.

It truly is great. At least in the vintage form. I have tried the currently available version nor am I interested in doing so. But this vintage version has got to be among the greatest masculine fragrances of all time. Not exaggerating!
