I gave up testing the ADP Colonia line over 15 years ago - scents that are relatively expensive and only last two or three hours on me with strength, aren't my thing - no matter how good they smell.

I do have ADP Lavanda Tonica which lasts about three to four hours, but I got that at a closing down sale for A$30. Which was quite a bargain, as I think it the best raw lavender masculine scent I've ever smelled.

Should have been clearer, I spray in the back of the neck.

A SA suggested to put your arm by your side and spray the side of your belly so you get both your inner elbow and the side of the belly in one spray. Not sure how effective this is.

Think this sums up my thinking. I like and own Dior Privee Cologne Royale even though it doesn't last long (it doesn't last short either). Cologne Royale and other eau de cologne types I tried seem to have more "body" and more performance than ADP Colonia. This is why I wanted to check if others shared my impression. Maybe I associate a fresh scent as something that should have a bit of a scent cloud.

Nice collection. Other famous light scents that are similarly weak on me are Eau Sauvage and the original YSL Pour Homme.

To my way of thinking, as I've expressed here in the past, to be a worthy buy for me, an EDT or EDC should last longer and be at least a tad more powerful, than the scent from someone who's puts on Gillette Aftershave balm in the morning, or sprays on some Brut underarm deodorant.

Didn't realize Dior Eau Sauvage might be weak. I was looking at Dior Homme and belatedly realize the SAs keep the Dior Eau Sauvage tester in the drawer for some reason.

Definitely test Eau Sauvage before buying.
Spray on wrist and see if it's still there with strength two and three hours later.

On me, it barely lasts two hours. Yet others here have said it lasts up to 24 hours on them.

Olfactory fatigue is when you wear the same scent loudly for three days, or sniff six or seven scents continuously in shop.
Sniffing your wrists where one has sample sprays of scent every half hour or hour, isn't going to be a problem.

Not a stupid question. The effect of additional sprays varies from one scent to another. You just have to try and judge for yourself.

I guess not all sprays are alike. Maybe it's just me, but I thought Maison Francis Kurkdijan in particular has 200 ml testers in stores, and they seem to have larger nozzles such that one spray from them is a wide, satisfying spray of an already good projection scent.

I tried to be rigid and scientific about how many sprays to apply (and where) when I first got into this hobby. Eventually I realized it 100% depends on the fragrance. Scents vary in strength, projection, sillage, and all that, and it just takes some trial and error to figure out what works. I tend to spray lightly and default to 2-3 sprays, usually to the chest / torso and maybe a single spray on the back of my hand. But some lighter scents require a heavier hand (maybe 5-6 sorays), and a few stronger ones (thinking Eldo Rien) only need a single spray.
