Drool.

I was looking at hard at an Omega yesterday, and almost pulled the trigger on a Hamilton Jazzmaster. Rolex stock was mostly forgettable, except for the stuff WAY outside my budget.

Side question: I make 20 years with my company soon, and they give us a watch to mark the occasion... Thankfully without any cheesy company signage added to the dial etc. We are given 20 models to choose from. I have pretty much made up my mind on which watch I will go with. However, curious of your thoughts (brand-wise) what you'd look hard at out of: Tag, Ebel, Baum & Mercier, or Raymond Weil.

I don't have the list in front of me but here's what I remember:

-Tag: variations of the Aquaracer and Formula 1. One was a quartz movement and the others were auto's.

-Ebel: 2 dress watches, small cases. Both are autos.

-B&M: 2 leather strap watches. One a round face and the other rectangle. Both quartz.

-RW: several variations, including dress and even a sports chrono. Mostly autos but a couple quartz.

Sorry for the sidetrack, and lack of model information, but I'm mostly interested in thoughts brand-wise. I have an idea which brand I most respect but it's been a while since I've shopped brands.

Thank you in advance.

:)

Thanks Diddy.
Great gift for 20 years!
I’d go Tag followed by B&M
I love my Aqua Terra but I wear my Tag Carrera Calibre 5 3x more. No the movement isn’t in house but they are built like tanks and so damn Comfortable. The Blue Bezel Aquaracer is really nice.

If it’s an option check out Oris. They are reasonably priced, super stylish, well built, and very well respected.
I like the 65 Diver and the Aquis.
65 Diver
Love the “retro” styling and it looks great with both the leather strap and bracelet

Aquis wears a lot smaller than its size and has one of the nicest bracelets I’ve ever seen.
Only problem is it has a weird case that’s hard to find leather straps for without going custom. I love the contrast between the black bezel and blue dial + it’s got an exhibition back that shows of its pretty red rotor :)

If you go with the B&M these to stand out for me
Classima elegant and rugged. The bracelet can be worn with jeans or a suit and imagine a brown leather strap on it!

The Clifton Maybe not quite as versatile but it’s stunning

You could also always ask them to max out and you will pay the difference for a Speedy ;-)

Very nice collection. I sold off my kit and kaboodle to help pay for my new Rolex Submariner last year. I'm down to it and 2 cheapies. I'm content...for now!

Ha! I can’t decide if I want a Sub or a Speedy next!

Very Nice! Can't tell from the photos but are any of those with solid 18K or platinum cases?

The longines Admiral is 14k
The stopwatch is 18K
The Hamilton Gary is only 10K

That Baume Clifton is a beauty. I've had several Tags and I'm just a bit tired of them right now. Great watches. My first "luxury" watch was a blue Tag Kirium for my 7th Anniversary. At the time that 37 mm looked huge, lol. ;)

That blue Aquaracer is very nice.

All of them are pretty equal brand-wise. They’re all upper echelon department store type pieces. I personally had a quartz aqua racer a few years ago and quite liked it. I also like the look of many of the B&M dress watches.

@Dandydude: I really like the look of the Longines Master with the white dial, blued hands and Arabic numerals. Gorgeous watch. How do you find it?

Thanks for your feedback. And I get that too, about ranking. My watch collection is very small and likely pathetic to most, and all gifts except one (a Casio Rangeman that I got myself). It's mostly Invicta watches that my wife bought me (likely off QVC or from Costco), what I believe is a very well done fake Breitling auto, a classic rose gold Patek that was gifted to me when I got my first management job (it was my father in law's father in law's watch. Like how I did that?). The Patek rarely gets worn, as I couldn't replace it, and the Casio is my daily driver which works well in a chemical plant. And if I ever had to go off grid, the Casio would be a blind reach.

I wonder how hard it would be to set up a section in swaps where we could swap watches for fragrances?
I’d love to trade some fragrances for a speedy or something LOL

Currently wearing this to work daily, looks very nice and compliments my gold Tungsten ring perfectly. I’ve been looking at Tissot watches, soon will buy one for my work watch.

Tissot is, at least from a personal viewpoint, a very good value for money watch brand and likely to provide all the required quality standards in a classy, timeless, functional and tasteful way-though fairly inexpensive, its quality is and remains way above its going rate

Thanks, it’s one of the most comfortable watched I’ve ever owned also.
You might try Jomashop....they can be had for a song from time to time

Yeah, I didn't used to appreciate Rolex but with age I have learned to...

Would love a royal oak offshore carbon next...might be waiting a while to have enough pennies for one of those...

Also have a Hamilton, which are fantastic value for money imo (though no longer wear it):

Own quite a few investment timepieces, one being a Royal Oak although not that exact model you cite. They are beautiful.
