I ran a search and there are a few threads from 2014, 2015 and a couple of posts in 2022, so I'm trying my luck in sparking discussion on a new thread. (Moderators, if you'd prefer to merge my post with an older one, please feel free to do so).
I'm intrigued by this house and would love to hear from the group about your experiences! Which of their frags have you tried? How do they perform on you? Do you have any on your wish list or in your collection?
Their offerings are vast and I'm rather overwhelmed by them. I first got a sample of La Cautiva and fell madly in love with it- it's a simple berry and musk, and it felt soft and easy to wear. Unfortunately, nobody around me liked it on me. I waited a while and tried again, and suddenly, I understood why everyone commented negatively. It turns on my skin. It's hard to pinpoint what's going wrong- is it sour? sweaty? dusty? indolic? I don't know exactly but this musk doesn't work on my skin at all.
The one positive outcome is that I now know I want a simple berry-musk in my collection. I'm on the hunt for the perfect one!
Then I got lucky and ended up with a few more samples in a swap- Muskara Neroli, Phero J and Quilombo. The first opens beautifully, then entirely disappears in under an hour. The second is meant for layering but my experience is that it didn't elevate, prolong or otherwise improve the frags I layered with it (online reviews do not agree with me, so this appears to be my issue).
The last was simply foul! It has a small but diehard following I believe, but omg this smelled rank on me! Soured, curdled milk. Never again.
Of all 4 I have tried, all of them were skin scents that disappeared entirely within 2 hours. At their prices, I'd love a good 6 hours out of them, tbh.
Having said that, I'm a big fan of this brand's approach. I love the simple focus on 2 or 3 notes. They are well-blended and felt like quality, so it's a shame none of the ones I tried have worked for me. I'd like to try a few more, I think, though I won't be actively searching for them.
Disclaimer: due to my work, I am exposed to covid regularly and have caught it repeatedly in spite of precautions. I'm unlucky in that it totally messed up my sense of smell (part of the reason I'm not as active on these forums as I would like to be), so my experience with the house may well have been adversely affected by this!
Keen to hear the group's take on the house and its offerings.
