Yes its a real car, its attached to the display case. I think the whole thing is a rare piece, the whole box was brand new when I got it years ago. the date is 1987
That's cool! Of course I'd never say take it out and play with it, unless you want to pose it sometime in a photo. Was just curious to know if it was a real toy car. Neat!

I've seen a few Kouros-branded race car diecast models on ebay. My father used to collect diecast models and he had a whole load of Ford ones, the Kouros ones I've seen are made by one of the same companies. They're scale replicas, very detailed!

I'm joining today, with a fairly modern bottle of "White Shoulders" Kouros! I prefer the more modern version slightly, because I tend to like current styles in fragrance. To my taste, the "slightly less natural" wood accord is smoother, more integrated, and more enjoyable. The performance of newer bottles is outstanding, just like the older ones. The key features are still there, including a nice, warm civet, although it's less insistent than my older silver-shouldered bottle. My wife has not complained yet - which she would have by now, with that older bottle!

I recently ordered a new bottle, have heard it's better than some older versions. Makes sense as aromachemical companies have had time to deal with IFRA restrictions. I have a couple bottles of Perfume Corps EDT and aftershave to compare with, might even get the new bottle today! :)

I confess that after 15 years of fragrance exploration, I’ve never knowingly smelled Kouros. I’m sure I’ve picked it up on someone, maybe even loved it without knowing, but I haven’t sampled or worn it.

I hear y’all saying a new bottle is still a worthwhile purchase, and that if I can sample, whatever I sample will be in the ballpark if what I can buy, even if there are differences?

Worth a go for a fortysomething dude who likes lots of other 80s fragrances?

(Half) joining the sync as announced with Rive Gauche, the very fragrance option do so far own that happens to be-at least so far-most similar to Kouros.

Absolutely! The new juice is 80s strong, and still unique in the genre. I've been loving 2 small sprays all day. Big sillage. You will not be disappointed! 🍺

Yes, the white shoulders version is a worthwhile pickup. It can often be found a bit discounted.

I'm not enough of a rabid Kouros purist to rant and rave about how different the newer version is and that it has been gutted. I have a silver shoulders from around 2008 or so, and a white shoulders from about 2020 or so.

The white shoulders is a little lighter on longevity, and probably a bit less potent but it is still fundamentally Kouros.. If you've never regularly worn a vintage version of Kouros, the recent version is not some hugely compromised reformulation bearing no resemblance to the original (but you may not like it).

IMO Kouros smells a bit more obviously "dated" than it's running buddy Antaeus. But if you're into frags, you should at least sample it. By most accounts, both Kouros and Antaeus, which each have an animalic aspect, have been slowly evolving and being dialed back over the last 40 years. Both are still available and both are still good if a little "old fashioned" to some noses.

I had never tried Kouros in it's heyday. The first time I ever tried was around 2010 when I saw all the online chatter in here. Back then it was a very polarizing scent. At first sniff I was horrified by the civet. But I later got a sample and liked how it dried down.

Wearing my silver shoulders today!

Thank you both!

I’m off to hunt up a small decant from one of my usual sources.
