(Disclaimer) Sorry for bad english

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this world. Just started to make my own scent with several ingridients that available in market place. I've tried to recreate a vibe and a moment into my perfume. I wanted to bring back my trip to a forest in Indonesia. I imagine soft woody, calm and pleasant would be the key. Plus hint of floral and animalic to represent some of creatures that i met in the trip. And here the formulas :

- Papua Darkwood (Diospyros Celebica) 2,25 g
- Papua Sandalwood (Santalum Macgregorii) 1 g
- Atlas Cedarwood 1 g
- Neroli 2 g
- Bergamot 2 g
- Basil 0,2 g
- Exaltolide 0,35 g
- Iso e Super 0,7 g
- Hedione 0,4 g
- Alpha Ionone 0,2 g
- Pentalide 0,4 g
- Vertenex 0,3 g
- Ethyl Acetoacetate 0,2 g
- Lauric Dodecanal (10%) 0,15 g

And i diluted it in 40,85 grams Dried Jasmine Petal Alcoholic Tincture (1:5 ratio to ethanol).

The question is, is it possible to dilute with it? i found my dried jasmine petal alcoholic tincture contains a tiny jasmine extract so i think it might be safe to dilute with it and jasmine won't be overwhelming the perfume.

Selamat pagi... it's a bit difficult from this distance, but this seems ok, on the surface... although you might add some more musk for longevity.

Selamat siang..
Thanks for your reply, yeah you're right. Now i'm in trouble with longevity, it just sit around 4-5 hour on my skin. Could you please suggest me what kind of musk that suits to it? Hopefully can more support floral and animalic notes to it, because i don't want to add more floral ingredient to the formula.

Galaxolide is commonly used for floral scents. Or you could try Romandolide instead. Your two musks used are very nearly the same thing, exaltolide, and Pentalide-exaltolide total. You could increase them too.

Learn to work in percentages, and so you could increase your musk load to 10-15-20%. (Disregarding the dilutants, of course.)

You could also try velvione, ambrettolide, tonquitone, and or some muscenone or silvanone supra.

Ethylene brassylate would also be a good choice for musk that goes very well with both woods & florals, and is extremely tenacious. One thing to also consider is trying iralia or some other methyl ionone gamma-type ionone instead of alpha. This could enhance both the woods & florals. Also, some benzyl salicylate will I suspect work well in this formula to enhance and, importantly for your purpose, extend the floralcy (it is extremely tenacious).

Noted, i will add galaxolide soon because it easy to buy it than other musks. Also i will work in percentages, thanks for your advice

I agree that iralia would be better than alpha ionone, will get it soon. And benzyl salicylate, i interested to it and maybe i want it too. Thanks for your advice
