Hi,

The first fragrance I ever owned was Jacomo by Jacomo in 1988… I was 16 years old. I choose it after trying several others…

I bought it again on Amazon this year and I’m looking to find something that can be more plaisante for my taste.

My favorite sent to my knowledge are black spruce, fern, violet, watermelon, cloves, cinnamon, geranium and vanilla. I do love the smell of Rose and patchouli… but not into « powder & soap » thinks.

I’m using Jacomo by Jacomo and sometimes Chanel Platinum Egoiste. I have not tried a lot since then or the ones I have tried didn’t please me. So I‘m looking to take more time doing so with the help of some advise and review here.

In my town in the province of Quebec we have some pharmacies and a Sephora store where I can find interesting stock. Otherwise, buying online can be a good alternative.

I‘m a sales representative (technical machinery, production & handling). I find that it can be interesting when someone smells good (spicy & woody). For me it should be wearable in any occasion for my own plaisure.

There may be many reasons to wear a perfume, but please don’t think I’m not clean at all! ;)

Hope you enjoyed reading.

Cheers!

Not really easy to find, but you might want to try Costume National Pour Homme- very spicy.

Hi and thanks for your recommandation. I can have it from amazon.ca (via USA) or with costume national in the USA for about 220$CDN. Wish to find a tester! Thanks again.

I would start with Floris. They are classic men’s fragrances from an iconic house that come in 10ml bottles so you can get an idea for around $25 to $35 which style or type you like. Start with Jermyn Street, Honey Oud, #89 and Neroli Voyage. Shipping is fast and they throw in samples. Really can’t go wrong with Floris. BTW 10mls is good for at least 100 sprays. Other favs of mine are Santa Maria Novella, Perfumum Roma, Mizensir, and Nicolai.

Thank you very much for your input. I will certainly take a look on those. Much appreciate.

Hi, welcome to Basenotes!

Also adding more Jacomo fragrances (actually, any masculine scent by Jacomo you can easily test and/or can have easy purchasing access to), Gulerain Homme Eau Boisse, Hugh Parsons Blue, l'Erbolario Ginepro Nero and also Frescaessenza from the same house, Armani Eau pour Homme Eau d'Aromes Parfum Aromatique and/or Eau de Cedre, Dior Dune pour Homme, Lalique White, Comme des Garcons 2 Man to a possible (re) testing list.

Wow, thank you very much for this recommanded list. I will try to find a place where I can test them. Much appreciate.

Jacomo is still around? All the freshly minted 1980’s MBA’s and lawyers covered themselves in that. That stuff is rough if you ask me, it was then and more so now.

I appreciate your feedback. It’s still available and continues to be sell according to reviews. I bought it on Amazon. I understand what you meen and that’s why I put just one shot on my chest or back. I‘ve tried several popular brands and nothing has impressed me so far. I have to look in Montreal or Quebec City to find and try more. Tastes are in the nature. :)

Seek out Lorenzo Villoresi and Profumum Roma.

Not really easy to find, but you might want to try Costume National Pour Homme- very spicy.
Sample first for sure. But think you might like it.
Following others recommandations and reading here and there I think you had probably better understood my taste. I also spend time with 4 stores and tried about 25 « popular » « spicy & woody » style but I was really disapointed. Can be good on paper for a seconde but not on my skin. Samples that left me with a kind of headache. I wish I can found something pleasante for me, differente, with a special signature. And yes I really like the smell of cloves (I put some in my soup) and I think it’s missing in all of the perfumes I have tried. But mostly, I enjoyed so much cinnamon, you know toast & cinnamon? In the base notes I don’t know wish one I prefer between Musk and Patchouli.
Can you kindly advise wish version you are refering between EDP and Parfum? I think you‘re probably refering to the perfum but I’m not sure.
I can get the EDP on Amazon and the perfume version on the website of Costume National where the EDP is out of stock. Both for about the same price (220$CDN, about the double pricing of what I have tried, but can be a good shot if I can like it).
For the sample I really don’t know where I can found one!
Thanks in advance for your reply.

I've never tried the Parfum version. I had the EdP version and it was very spicy with cloves and cinnamon.

The Parfum version was very hard to find in USA and I gave up looking for it. Maybe that has changed. But the EdP was very good.

I do think you would like it, but strongly suggest you get a small decant of it first to sample. That's a pricey purchase and you should be really sure you love it.
