I started my exploration of this house..... it seems quite interesting.
Any fans?
There was no official thread, so it was time to start one.....

There’s a Hiram Green thread already called Hiram Green thoughts but it’s in the masculine board so it’s probably good to have a general board discussion.

The discovery set is definitely worth a try. Standouts for me are Moon Bloom and Vetiver. They last very well for all natural perfume and smell refined/professionally composed.

I think I posted more thoughts in that thread as I went through the discovery set.

I got Hyde. Agree, they are truly refined! Thinking about getting Slowdive!

I very much enjoy this line. A couple don’t work for me personally but I own most of them and admire his artistry.

Been reading reviews of Hyde and Slowdive lately. They sound pretty nice. Will have to get a sample when I get a chance.

I've owned and worn Arbole, Arbole, and Shangri La, which I think is out of production now. Really nice woody patchouli and floral chypre respectively. Hyde is smoky and innovative, more a guy thing, and Moonbloom is a luxurious, petal filled, white floral. But, and there is a caveat here, some of his perfumes seem to go off quickly. Both Dilettante and Vivacious turned acrid and sour on my skin in a way that suggested the perfumes were either going bad or there was some issue with maceration... don't know of course. But try before you buy and use them fresh if you do.

My favorites are Shangri La (original release), Voyage 2019, and Vivacious. I like them all but I'll probably part with them because I have others that fill in these gaps better so I don't reach for them as much as they'd deserve. Quality-wise, I think they are very good.

Hyde has become one of my favorite perfumes ever - smoky almost savory leather with an underlying subdued sweetness (probably from the vanilla)

my gf smells bonfire & I don’t disagree

it is jarring & beautiful in equal measure - there is a 50/50 chance I reach for it in the autumn especially if I’m wearing a leather jacket (not sure why)

not something I really care about much in perfume but incredible tenacity & projection especially considering it’s all natural

Slowdive is awesome & I don’t typically care for honey accords but this one I love

Shangri La is a lovely chypre - I like it for the warmer months (not super hot tho)

I love white florals so Moon Bloom will
eventually be mine : )

I love this line. Shangri-La (2014) is one of my favourite perfumes. I haven’t smelled the rerelease. Also own and love Dilettante (now discontinued), Hyde, Slowdive and Arbolé. Moon Bloom and Vetiver are great too.

I am a big fan of this perfumer! I first encountered his Moon Bloom, which is a spectacular, steamy tuberose that converted me to tuberose. My favourite, however, is the now discontinued Dilettante; the orange blossom to end all orange blossom scents. It smells like an orange grove at sunset, fruit, foliage and beehive included, and it's just glorious. I even bought a back up bottle when I realised it was being discontinued, even though I'm pretty much against that.

My husband has Hyde, and I agree 100% with @heavy black heart that it is a thick, savoury leather & bonfire scent. It has a hint of the sweetness that dominates Slowdive, which is a mind-blowingly heady honey scent. With both of these, a little goes a long way.

I did not love his rose scent, too dry and sour for me, I believe it is discontinued already? Vivacious and Arcadia I haven't tried yet, I should order me some samples because I'm always interested in his work.

I like the house a lot. Moon Bloom is one of my favourite scents and also "converted me to tuberose" as @yellowtone aptly put it. Shangri La (spicy peach that's kind of a chypre, but not very mossy) could be up there too if I wear it more - I love the sample I have of the old version but was too late to buy it. I haven't tried the 2022 version which is meant to be close, though it's actually next on my "to buy" list right now.
Not a fan of Slowdive or Hyde but they're probably worth sampling. All the scents I've tried have felt very high quality ingredients wise.

Nice to have a thread on Hiram Green! I don't look in the "men's" section usually so hadn't noticed it.

I own Shangri-La (new) and really like it, never having tried the original. I get a bit of similarity to Rogue's Flora & Fauna (not that they smell the same), but the latter seems autumnal or wintery to me, whereas Shangri-La feels more like spring. Both are mossy and fruity (peach-apricot).
I also have a decant of Moon Bloom and I agree it is stunning. I may have to buy a bottle once I've used up the decant. I also really liked Arbole, but perhaps not enough to own it. Samples awaiting: Arcadia and Vetiver.

I really like his style and his perfumes are always at least interesting to me, even those I don't want to wear, like Slowdive and Vivacious. Haven't tried Hyde, Dilettante or the Voyages. The only one of his that I really took an immediate dislike to was Lustre. I'd love to smell a lush, darkened chypre-ish rose made by Hiram Green...

I completely forgot about Arbolé despite liking it enough to own a 10ml decant! It reminds me in a weird way of Tauer's Phi sans rose and a lighter base.
Vivacious is nice too. I kind of feel in the same way that Shangri La can be seen as a simpler, more youthful Mitsouko, Vivacious does similarly for L'Heure Bleue - though the former is more successful in my view. I've noticed all my favourite HGs have a bright, radiant quality to them.
