Help with dilutions for Reed diffusers/ room sprays! Please!!

Hi,

I’m new to all this but determined to make Reed diffusers and room sprays. I’ve developed some really nice accords already but using materials already pre-diluted in ethanol. I wonder if anyone can help me out at bit?

1. In perfumery, fragrance notes are often diluted as the concentrated form is often too strong. If I want to dilute something, do I have to do it in a suitable Reed diffuser base or can I use fragrance notes already diluted in ethanol and THEN add this fragrance to a Reed diffuser base (please forgive my utter ignorance)? 🫣

2. What Reed diffuser and room spray bases have you found most effective?

Ethanol based reed diffuser does not work very well. You should definitely use solvents that have linear evaporation, such as MMB and Davanol, and the percentage combination of these together and with aromatic oil.
If you combine in this way, it will give a good result

The further explanation is that MMB is flammable, so be sure to mix it with 5% distilled water to eliminate its flammability.

Don't use water it will encourage mould. Ethanol is also flammable. Dowanols and isoPars are the best solvents to use, in my experience.

The experience in making reed diffuser with MMB solvent showed that if you use 5% of distilled water, the problem of its flammability is solved and it dissolves well in water. so use small amounts of alcohol in the diffuser, because alcohol evaporates faster than other solvents and the aromatic substance remains in the reed.

The initial suggested formula for making reed diffuser is as follows:
70% MMB
5% water
5% alcohol
20% aroma
By using at least 5 bamboo straws in the glass, the smell is acceptable in a medium-sized room.

Are you suggesting that ethanol is non-polar and doesn't dissolve in water? You could not be more wrong if you wanted to be.

Alcohol should be used in small amounts in the diffuser. It was not a mistake to say that alcohol is non-polar. My suggestion is to use water in the diffuser in small amounts of 20%. Your words are also true, thank you

I obviously can't speak for this other individual, but I personally am generally grateful to people who correctly inform me that I am wrong. And the wronger I am, the more grateful I am to be set straight! 😹 😹 😹

It is a mistake to say that ethanol is non-polar. Ethanol is polar. Why are you doing this?

It is not necessary to use ethanol or water in a reed diffuser product. Your formula is misleading.
