Help needed finding signature scent

So I have a few scents that I rotate through. I have Polo Green, Dior Fahrenheit, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, and Aqua di bio Profumo. I have to admit my favorite out of these is Fahrenheit but the problem is projection and longevity it just doesn’t perform the way I was hoping. So I’m curios is there an alternative to this that has that performance I’m looking for? I don’t like sweet scents and Tobacco Vanille while its nice I get a headache from how sweet this can be so I hardly wear it. I’m looking for classic extremely masculine I don’t care about crowd pleasers I’m looking for almost an in your face guy scent that doesn’t play around. Anything like this out there?

Tom Ford Beau De Jour Signature I go 3 sprays and it’s a nuke all day excellent stuff.

Next up for me would be Guerlain Heritage Eau De Parfum 4 sprays and I’m all set the whole day. I could easily get by with 3 sprays but I like to wear it loud.

How many sprays do you use and have you tried using an unscented lotion on your skin prior to applying the fragrance to see if that helps? Otherwise, the Nicolai suggestion above by my colleague is a good one.

Thank you for the replies so far! I do use an unscented body oil when I apply it and use 3 on the neck one on my chest on whatever shirt I’m wearing but I just doesn’t seem to reach out my wife has to get up close to smell it I don’t know what it is

It also depends how extravagant you want to go. While Eau Savage EDP with the green juice would work and a host of many others. Some that are more costly such as the Nicolai and Tom Ford are excellent as well. A signature is the holy grail for you. That will take some time to discover and in that search, you will enjoy the journey and is why pathologically we form the collective Basenotes. Even if I found my holy grail I would still be searching and trying new things. The journey is fun, exciting, and fulfilling.

MDCI Invasion Barbare. Definitely has the vibe of Fahrenheit. I like it much more than Fahrenheit, and as far as I can remember it has no longevity or projection issues.

Quite a few great options mentioned so far- also adding at least to a (re) test list if not already to a fully owned one especially Knize Forest, Amouage Bracken, Caron Yatagan in no further particular order

Fahrenheit is my favorite too. If you haven't tried Club de Nuit Intense Man I strongly suggest it. I have EDT. Max projection and longevity along with a dgaf vibe. But it also gets compliments, after you're noseblind. I haven't yet tried the original Aventus, but other clones like Montblanc Explorer and Mercedes-Benz Select are weak and dainty next to CDNIM.

Well, you're doing all the right things. I guess your skin and body chemistry just love to soak up the scent. :)

Jovoy Private Label might do it. Aggressively stiff and sharp leather, rooty vetiver, and patchouli. It's a beautiful fragrance but you really have to love those notes. It's the opposite of a crowdpleaser; dark, brooding, and aggressive. Starts and stays loud, lasts forever; if you get it on your clothes, it will survive a trip through the laundry.

But if you love Fahrenheit, I suggest trying different approaches to spraying it. It's possible you're just going noseblind, which is common for Fahrenheit due to the 25% ISO E Super in the base. A lot of threads come up on Fahrenheit where people say they spray and it disappears after 15 mins (but they'll often catch a whiff later in the day). My recent bottle of Fahrenheit isn't a beast mode scent, but it's still very strong and lasts very well. I rarely wear more than 2 sprays to the chest, and that's enough to last a full work day. 3 sprays is my limit; any more than that and I'd choke out strangers, as Fahrenheit isn't exactly subtle. That said, when I got my bottle I found myself going nose blind, too, because I was spraying my neck. Now I usually spray a little further down on my chest (letting a little hit the underside of my shirt, which ensures it lasts) and I get better results. If you want a bit more of the scent in the air around you, try another spray on the top side of one or both forearms (hit your arm hair for more longevity). I had to experiment with where I spray, but I'm very happy with this one now.

This is as good a suggestion as any. Private Label is very distinct, masculine and potent, but may wear thin on both wearer and people around wearer if worn everyday.

I have a hard time helping someone pick a signature. It's a very personal choice. We can point to some options, but OP would best be served by getting some small decants to test drive a few scents. I suggest decants over samples, because if you're really looking for something to wear very often, one small 1ml test drive may not be enough to really get to know the scent.

There’s always Quorum—or Jacques Bogart One Man Show. Or for a bit brighter but still very masculine powerhouse, Giorgio Beverly Hills.

My suggestions that I enjoy that are "classic extremely masculine" fragrances are:

Houbigant Duc De Vervins EDT & EDP
Lalique Pour Homme EDT & EDP
Lalique Pour Homme Equus EDP
Boucheron Pour Homme EDT & EDP
Boucheron Jaipur Pour Homme EDT & EDP
Dior Eau Sauvage EDT & EDP
Dior Homme Parfum
Davidoff Zino Davidoff
Chanel Antaeus
Chanel Egoiste
Chanel Platinum Egoiste
Chanel Pour Monsieur
Chanel Pour Monsieur Concentree (if you can find it)
Cartier Santos De Cartier
Cartier Santos De Cartier Concentree
Cartier Pasha De Cartier EDT
Cartier Declaration EDT
Guerlain Heritage EDT & EDP
Guerlain Vetiver
Rochas Moustache EDT & EDP (the EDT is classic "original 1949")

That's all I could think of right off the top of my head. If I think of some more that I have I'll add them to the list.

Edit: Added a few more
