Help me identify a Jovan fragrance.

I met an eclectic older man at the polls on Tuesday sporting a newsboy cap and wearing a subtle spicy fragrance. It was almost minty, but gentlemanly. Perhaps some clove or cinnamon. Kind of Creed Viking-esque. I had to know what it was, so I caught up to him and politely asked what he was wearing.

Jovan for Men! J-O-V-A-N. Can’t find it in stores nowadays, but you can buy it online. They make one called Musk, too.

Well bust my buttons! Surely this will be an inexpensive pickup. But why had I not heard of it before? Well, after some internet sleuthing, I can’t seem to find any Jovan fragrance called simply “For Men”. I’ve smelled Musk, White Musk, and Sex Appeal, and none of these are what this man was wearing.

I know it’s a bit of an ask, but I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Do you suppose it was Black Musk? Ginseng NRG? Fever?! Is there a discontinued Jovan fragrance our vintage enthusiasts might recommend?

If not, at least it won’t cost me much to buy them all! Thanks in advance.

There is "Jovan Man", but that has been long discontinued.

It's probably Jovan Musk and it just smells different to you in the air around another user as opposed to if you were wearing it yourself.

Maybe Man or Monsieur but I’m thinking it was likely Musk for Men as well. Of course, you did say he was an older man….

I had thought about this, but he did specifically say “they make one called Musk, too” as if that was different than what he was wearing. There is also the possibility that he misspoke or was a bit absentminded. It was a nice encounter, regardless, and I’m glad I asked. I hope I smell that good when I’m his age.
