I have been testing this fragrance from a sample and wow I feel like I have come back from a exorcism at the local Catholic Church.lol

This scent is the most realistic take on Frankincense and Myrrh I have tried and it really smells like the resin upon the charcoal. Its a bit smoky and has a touch of lemon/citrus to its makeup.

Would I wear this as a personal fragrance?

I do not think I could pull this one off as you can imagine people constantly asking where have you been. They would think I have been spending time repenting my sins.lol

Good take on that type of incense the most realistic I have tried.:2vrolijk_08:

It had a soapy character that I could not get past when I sampled it last week. I seem to recall not liking it much when I tried it last year, either.

Frankincense and myrrh, huh? I will give it another go in six months to see if I feel any differently.

I agree that Cardinal is a very realistic frankincense fragrance. Very linear too... and I don't get the myrrh. It provides a very good base for layering experiments with vetiver or citrus.

I am so used to smelling Myrhh with the Frankincense that I when I smell one I automatically assume the other is in attendance. Its been awhile since I have been to Church to pick apart the individual incense notes but I am impressed how Heeley has nailed the churchy smell. I could not wear this though unless I was thinking in becoming a priest.lol

This is all a matter of preference, but I prefer CDG Avignon to the Heeley Cardinal.

If you enjoy Heeley Cardinal, I think you'd love Sonoma Scent Studio Incense Pure even more.

It was too sharp, for my tastes. By sharp, I mean aldehydic (or maybe synthetic). I felt that Avignon was much more rounder, softer and just as realistic.

Being raised Catholic....and having this fragrance described as "Catholic Church incense" (which I love the smell of!) I looked forward to sampling it...but was sadly disappointed...It lacked the richness and depth of character that true Catholic Church incense has in spades and the longevity was terrible as well....To me it was much ado about nothing.....
