Hi all,

So, my "Guts" told me tonight, do not "drag my Feet" and "hit the go button" on a Fragrance that I've been thinking about purchasing for some time. I have noticed that this Fragrance seems to have had an increase in price as well as being difficult sourcing the larger 3.4 oz. bottle.

Well, after a lot of searching, tonight, I found this Fragrance at a price that I believe is a good price (at least I think so). So, I can only hope this transaction will prove to be legit, (that is to say) that the Fragrance I purchased will actually be in stock and soon ready for shipping. I did received an Email notice tonight of a successful transaction/purchase. Only time will tell.

Ooh, my purchased Fragrance ? I ordered a 3.4 oz. bottle of Christian Dior "Eau Sauvage EdP" (2017).
It will be interesting to compare (assuming this Eau Sauvage does ships) against my current bottle of (2012) "Eau Sauvage EdP".

The first time I tried the 2017 Parfum it didn't work for me at all... unlike the EDT, it's quite strong, and I probably oversprayed. Next time around, I calibrated my sprays accordingly and realized just how good this stuff is. The citrus top reminds me of the EDT in spirit, but there's a gorgeous elemi note that gives it an almost root beer character to my nose. It's got enough heft to it that it feels like a cool weather scent, but it's really quite stunning. Lasts all day, too. I know some fans of the 2012 were disappointed that it went in another direction, but smelling it on its own, it's great. Enjoy your bottle!

Will want to hear your notes. My understanding is that the 2012 EdP version while related to the EdT was a bit more of its own scent.

I had the 2017 EdP version and it was like a pumped up version of the EdT.
Hi StylinLA,

Well Sir, if all goes according to plan, when I receive this "Eau Sauvage" I for sure will let you know my thoughts. Since I've never owned the Eau Sauvage EdT, I can't comment on that aspect. It is my understanding that the (2017) Eau Sauvage is a more....."friendly ?" version than the quite strong (but OUTSTANDING) 2012 Eau Sauvage EdP. We shall see!

Congrats and enjoy! The 2012 is strong out of the gate but has a lovely and enduring drydown. Patchouli and myrrh, a bit on the naughty side. Not one to overspray and then walk in the boardroom. I have nothing else quite like it in my wardrobe. Will be curious to read your follow up on the 2017.

As mentioned in the other post that got shut down, I have both the 2012 Parfum and 2017 Parfum. They are like brothers that look enough like each other that casual acquaintances sometimes mix them up. Side-by-side I think you’ll find the 2017 version to be a bit more open and airy while the 2012 is denser and darker. I wear them pretty interchangeably.

I look forward to reading your comparison reaction.

Hi dogtoe,

Thank you for posting your experiences with the "Eau Sauvages" in both this thread (and the earlier, now shut down) thread. Your comments especially, helped me in deciding to go ahead and make this "Eau Sauvage EdP" purchase. Thanks again dogtoe.

The entire sport of fragrance collection boils down to a fortuitous combination of preparedness, research, and lucky timing. Sounds like you hit it on all cylinders. Congratulations!
Hi mrcologneguy,

Ooh, thank you kind Sir! I feel I was indeed very fortunate to find such a gem after my having done (a LOT) of research and very lucky timing!

A solid choice! I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Just to confirm: it's definitely the EdP you bought, and not the Parfum (in the one in the picture)?
Hi Sam,

Well Sir, I just double checked my Email receipt and it reads: Eau Sauvage EdP. Good catch Sam on the photograph showing the bottle of being

labeled "Parfum"!

Ummmm, one now has to wonder, is the ad "description" wrong, or, is the "Photograph" wrong, or, is are both the Photo and description correct ?

Ummmm, I'm a tad confused. I wonder if "Eau de Parfum" is considered the same as just labeling/calling it "Parfum" ?

I just again did a search and every photograph I found shows the bottle for "Eau Sauvage EdP" having the word "Parfum" (i.e. no "Eau de

Parfum" on the bottle). So, I wondeer, are these one and the same ? I know for sure, it is not Eau de Toilette.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help clear up my confusion.

Well, I guess now I'll just have to wait and be surprised when the "Eau Sauvage" shows up in the Mail.

Heck, regardless (considering the sale/purchase price) I'm going to be a happy Cat either way.

Thanks again Sam.

Congratulations and enjoy!
Happy for you irrespective if this is the 2012 or the 2017-happening for some reason (s) to have liked both almost equally much and to be long term consistently excited about both, almost with no further preference.

For how close ESP 2012 & 2017 are, it's remarkable how big the difference in wearability is. Always struggle to find occasions to wear the 2012, yet 2017 has become almost a dumb reach for me at times.

I own and enjoy both versions. I blind bought them a few years back. Like dogtoe mentioned, they are very similar, but the 2017 version is a little lighter / fresher. The 2017 may be better situated for warmer days and the 2012 version is more suited for evenings and cooler weather - at least that's how I tend to wear them.
