Haha the iconic name! Centrality is relative.

BTW is "Cologne Water" referred to as "Koln Wasser" in German?
Fragrance 'cologne' as it is used all over the world is the Anglophone way of saying Koln, the German city.
'Echt Kolnisch Wasser' translated Real/Actual Cologne Water is printed on the venerable 4711, so yes, it is a thing, though not colloquially :)
Now I wonder what other 'things' we utilize day in and out are named purely after cities.

Wieners?

Hamburgers?

Hmm, now I'm starting to wonder if Germany and Austria have a monopoly on this sort of thing. :)
Don't forget Frankfurt...ers :)
And a whole slew of other foods...cheeses are especially known for this, was not aware Cheddar is a town in England, Brie is obvious, Gouda (Netherlands) not so much
