Geranyl acetate - late to the game!

I just discovered it today and oh my gosh it is heaven to me! I really find geranium eo flat and boring and even geranium heart I don’t love and I don’t like lavender eo much either (Bulgarian lavender if I were forced to use it). But I smell both of these in Geranyl Acetate and I could see myself using this in many blends and Just love it. How strange!

Glad you like it. As a beginner I find it a little hard to work with, because even if it's fresh, green, floral and crispy, it has rough edges to my nose...

I find Geranyl Acetate much smoother than my Geranium essential oil, which is a bit harsh. And also less bitter. Geranium is a tad terpenic. Geranyl Acetate has a pleasant mild sweetness.
But I would certainly not characterize the Geranium as flat.

Yeah, I also love Geranyl Acetate.

I'm more of a Geraniol kind of person, the 'soapy' aspect of GA is a bit tough to work with for me.

I am confused. You all seem to be comparing the complexity of an essential oil with the simplicity of a single chemical, but the other way round! The last way I would describe Geranium is "flat and boring", nor would I say that I could smell both Geranium and Lavender in geranyl acetate.

I am confused.

If you say so. Both geranyl acetate and linalyl acetate are acetates so both have a slight sourness about them; other than that, not so sure.

Agreed. Also, there is a huge diversity among geranium materials & the effects one can create with them.
