Nice! From the comments on American Pharoah I’m thinking it was changed quite a bit. I get raspberry, cedar and musk. Has a bit of a Hans Hendley Bloodline vibe to it. Slumberhouse is good stuff too. Always liked Norne.
Hey Dothraki are you US based? If so you want this sample of Smuggler’s Notch?

Every now and again I'm returning both to American Pharaoh and Santi Ana.

AP is definitely one of the best tobacco based perfume on the market today and THE BEST cherry flavoured tobacco ever produced to me. Tobacco is thick, dense and very high quality. It reminds me specifically of dried, unlit tobacco. Not so much smoke in here, but that is perfectly fine and I'm okay with that.

SA to me is one of the top 3 hay perfumes for me. That dry hay mixed with green hay, tobacco, spices and herbs is soooo good! Hay in here is presented in an unique way. Actually, hay became one of my favourite notes, because of Santi Ana, among others.

Checking out Smugglers Notch for the first time right now (thanks @bl00drunzcold !) and….BOY OH BOY this stuff is thiiiiiick and dark! It smells how it looks, thick, dark dark green. It opens sweet, earthy, dark, green. Barley and maple are front and center along with the cut grass that’s been bagged for a couple hours vibe. But that bagged grass smell also sorta comes across as tobacco. Actually….now that I smell it again, it‘s smelling like some freshly cured pipe tobacco. Not the cherry kind, more like original.

Wow… good ingredients, interesting tobacco composition, strong but comforting. First impression, I really like it. It reminds me of slumberhouse. This one would be great for hangin outside in the Fall, or indoors by the fireplace in winter. Although I will rock it in Summer because there’s nothing synthetic or offputting jumping out. Hoping to check out the oud in the drydown.

It really smells like some high quality Flue cured tobacco leaf to me. Awesome!

Glad you like it and will get more use out of it than me.

I've been wearing Jasper No Kodo for the last two days from a sample I received. This is my favorite from Folkwinds of the perfumes I've tried. The only one I haven't smelled is Smuggler's Notch which sounds very nice as well.

Jasper No Kodo has so many coniferous notes listed that I had to try it, and I definitely got a very enjoyable coniferous note, mixed with blackberries in the opening that made me smile. Fir, Hemlock, and Juniper Berries. Jono, please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is Hemlock Spruce, not the poisonous flowers, correct? These coniferous notes are blended extremely well with the blackberries and the copal resin, which also has a slightly piney smell, and palo santo sandalwood...mmm...mmm! Smells wonderful! The conifers smooth down as JNK moves into the mids and picks up some very soft floral tones. In the drydown, I pick up some ambergris and perhaps a slight bit of oud, but the main notes to me through the wear are conifers, blackberries, slight florals, and ambergris.

This is a wonderful fragrance and one I could see myself wearing a lot. For those of you that are familiar with Ellen Covey's Blackbird, you know that she created a coniferous fragrance with blackberries several years ago, but also know that Jasper No Kodo smells much better than Blackbird. (This is in my opinion of course). JNK has a far more blended scent profile than Blackbird, which is overpowered by the blackberries. Jasper No Kodo is rich, but clean smelling at the same time. It is somewhat linear throughout the wear, but that works well for me as I absolutely love this scent profile and would wear the heck out of it.

Brilliant job by Jono on Jasper No Kodo! Two thumbs up as high as I can reach!

Because of Scent Detective’s description and a soft spot that I have for evergreen berry blends, I just placed an order for Jasper No Kodo. One of my favorite fragrances of all time is Cape Heartache, which is a coniferous fragrance with strawberry notes. I also own Dead Is better by Sixteen92 and Blackbird by Olympic Orchids, both of which contain coniferous and blackberry notes. Hemlock, found in Cape Heartache, is a note that I particularly enjoy. If Jasper No Kodo is able to blend coniferous notes, including hemlock, with a dash of blackberry, I am certainly excited to try it.
