Dior Homme Sport 2021 - am I nuts?

DHS 2021 is driving me a bit crazy. Firstly, this thing seems powerful. Much more so than prior releases. Anyone else experiencing this? Secondly, I’m having excellent success with 2 sprays on my upper back. If I spray anywhere closer to my nose DHS actually annoys me.

I’m a conservative sprayer. Often 2-3 total sprays on abdomen and upper back but with DHS I really need to skip the abdominal application while the wafts from the 2 back sprays are super nice!

Anyone else apply DHS 2021 in this fashion?

I am wearing it now. 2 sprays on the chest and one on my wrist. I don’t find it super strong but perfect for the office, etc. with 3 sprays.

Not even close to Homme Parfum or Intense strengthwise IME.

Excellent scent for summer.

I find the entire refreshed line to be deceptively strong (DH2020, Sport, Cologne). One spray is always enough, and occasionally too much (I appreciate that the excellent atomizers allow for a partial spray).

2021 is a future classic in my eyes, and many won't find out until it's gone.
Hope this sticks around longer than the 4 years they gave 2017.

While having noticed that fewer (personally speaking, as in 2-3) sprays of this one are just enough for moderate yet decent projection, this 2021 version of DHS might also handle a more liberal application without seeming too much.

Definitely agree on the “small powerhouse” (well said). Apparently our reactions differ on smelling it from up close. One spray to the abdomen - and under 2 shirts - and this thing almost overwhelms me to the point where I do not enjoy it. On the other hand, those wafts from the back are completely enjoyable to the point that I really look forward to wearing it again. Kind of odd although I’m glad to have found an effective way to apply it.

Personally, I like each of the new DH releases. For me the order is as follows (at least this is how I feel today):

1. DH 2020 (probably the most wearable fragrance I own)
2. DHS 2021
3. DHC 2022 (still working things out with this one)

I just wore this one earlier this week... I am extremely disappointed in this version. Very synthetic and almost cloying. However, yes, it is a powerhouse.

I’ve enjoyed this every time I wear it. I spray my shirt with 2-3 sprays and just enjoy the scent bubble it creates. Synthetic? Yes, but nice with good performance. It’s not a blue scent, not even much of a sport scent, but a nice all around scent. I don’t consider it a beast compared to other fragrances I own.

On a recent hunt for something similar to 08 version, and or Cologne version, I got sprayed once by the SA with Sport.

Flipping strong, lasted through washes and still projected. I can 100% see this having to be sprayed away from the face/nose. Very moreish!

the name really confuses me because it is not a sport to me, I actually warmed up to this recently, seems to really come alive in spring/summer and for EDT it really has good longevity, I do stick to 2-3 sprays max, and I like to spray my outer arms, one on each , and then sometimes I will do 1 spray on the back of the neck and never gets too strong for my nose

Completely agree, the only argument you could think of for the sport name is it being a citrus loaded 'flanker' to DH 2020.
But citrus certainly does not equal sportiness here. At times I actually think this is the more elegant/mature of the two.

I like this better than DH2020 (which is still good). I find this to be more interesting and longer lasting. I only need a few sprays, or I can definitely smell myself and it’s too strong.

I have tried this 3 times (from carded samples) each time I get a kind of fresh but very synthetic, almost cardboards like woods and isoE Super.
I get no citrus, or should I say none that pop out as citrus and defiantly nothing I’d sniff and think ooh lemon!
Perhaps my snorter is broken but I get recognisable lemon in lots of other frags but not this one.
If lemon and popping citrus is what you’re after then avoid this one as (although pleasant) this is not that.

Feels like a creeper! Maybe that thing about what we might think or expect it to smell like ( sport moniker etc) . Lol came to say it's still in my shirt and blazer sleeve and it's very nice! Again my own advice to myself ( heeded infrequently I admit!) ~4 weeks for me to "get" a fragrance. Also that prior expectation coupled with it's super strength, I reckon is just frazzling nose buds no end!!

The carboard like note you are detecting is ambroxan. It's synthetic of course and meant to imitate the note of grey amber (ambergris).
