I've never been a fan of all this hoop-la, but I'm starting to realise that maybe it'll help me in the long-run and feel more productive in my profession so...I'm on the hunt for some skin hydrating lotion something that'll give me reason to get rid of the ever present tiredness that I get from time to time and clear it away.

Lets just say I'm nearing my 30s and realising maybe I should take some care around the part of my body (my face) that I've despised for a majority of my life so any suggestions.

And don't recommend me male care products just because my avatar is my artwork which just so happens to be a guy I am a woman looking for feminine products not male products so please stop recommending me products for the opposite sex it is insulting.

No longer interested in responding to people in this thread because I did not ask for men to come in and ruin it, I will be notifying admins to close this thread as it has devolved men giving unsolicited opinions about what I should use.

Face or body? I use primarily Cerave or the drugstore copy, but most drugstore brands work well for the purpose. No need to go high end (though of course nothing wrong with that either). Obviously, no hydrating cream has any long term effect, but they help for a few hours.

For long term effects, I think the only molecules that have shown consistent results are retinoids (eg tretinoin), though usually they require a prescription. And of course sunscreen is the only necessary step in skincare.

I was referring to my face, total novice at this kind of thing. Kindly don't recommend me male products when I'm looking for feminine care ones not ones you use.

Are you saying that you've never moisturised your face? Perhaps, like me, you have oily skin? l've been using Garnier Ultralift for many years, as it's quite light & doesn't bring me out in spots. l often get told l look young for my age (l'm in my fifties), & have almost no wrinkles. l agree there's no need to go for high end products, & personally l avoid anything with retinol or vitamin C as they can cause skin reactions if not used very carefully.

My skin is mostly dry actually I have the curse of looking younger then I am as I look like a teenager despite being in my late 20s, and facial moisturising is something I've never done, because most of the time I just wake up make a drink have some face wipes nearby use one throw it away and go back to work on whatever drawing I'm working on, but I'm trying to find something that'll force me to wash my face and feel more awake.

Ha ha, l understand about the "curse" of looking younger! 😉 l used to get annoyed that people didn't take me seriously because of it, but now of course l get the last laugh because l'm not ageing as fast as my peers. l do think it's important to look after your skin though, as there may come a time when it all goes south. For what it's worth, l only wash my face at night before bed. ln the mornings l splash my face with cold water, & it works a treat to wake me up. My mum always did the same, so l have her to thank for that tip.

I'm a nightowl and a nocturnal person as I'm more productive in those hours, but I'll look into what you suggested so thanks for the recommendation and I'm a total novice when it comes to this stuff.

I’m 41 and UK based. I use Mancave shower gel. Sea Salt and Mandarin are my two go to scents. In terms of face - things can get really complicated when you start looking! Men just need a simple routine which will helps to keep you consistent. I use Sukin Naturals which I order online and get delivered. All you need is a facial cleanser, facial scrub and moisturiser.

Oooh! I'll get back at you later with more info, but briefly: men's and women's skin isn't really different so you can use anything, and anyway most skincare is catered to women most of the time.

As for basic moisturizer, cerave is actually a great option, especially for drier skin. The Ordinary moisturizer is also nice.

Also: moisturizer will moisturize your skin which is nice as it will feel and look more supple but it won't help you with aging.

The thing that you MUST use every day for wrinkle prevention is actually a sun cream. Use it every morning, summer AND winter, if you're planning to be outside. SPF 30 is enough for most normal not too sunny days, but opt for SPF 50 during summer and if you're outside all day (like hiking or skiing ir working outside).

Of course, you must clean it off every evening with a facial cleanser - foaming cleanser for oilier skin and creamier, gentler cleanser for dryer ir more sensitive skin. It's advised to use face wash in the morning too especially if you're prone to breakouts but for some people it's enough justwashing face with the face wash in the evenings. You must do it every night to take the day's grime off even if you don't wear make up. If you do, then micellar water (or whatever you use to take off make up) first, then wash your face with the face wash after. Cerave cleansers is a good option, as are many other brands. I personally use La Roche Posay one for sensitive skin.

For more graceful aging stuff (I prefer this term to anti aging as aging is a privilege and not a malady) vitamin C and vitamin A (retinol) are the best stuff, but you have to use it carefully and always use SPF too - I must go and will give you more links and info later.

Now, is your dry actually dry or dehydrated?

You can keep it simple. Boots own brand, not the No7 range but cheaper, a friend in her 70s just uses their cucumber moisturizer. I think it is around £2.50 a pot?

Despite what marketing tells us, there are no skin care products specifically made for the male or the female skin. As a man, I can tell you the best aftershave I have ever used is Chafing Relief Powder Gel from Monistat, marketed for a woman's nether regions.

The best two products I know to combat dry skin are, refreshingly, marketed as unisex: Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Hydrating Mask and Paula Begoun Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask. Both are advertised as masks, but I use them sparingly as regular moisturizers and they last me all day.

As with all moisturizers, they work best when applied after misting or splashing your face with some water. I mist my face for this purpose with rosewater, but plain old water will suffice.

Now, I am a man and an American, so feel free to disregard my contribution. Good day to you.

I think you might find this stream useful. It's a fragrance channel but the host (Dan) does regular streaming at weekends with frag guests. This weekend he had a guest doing a skincare tutorial. I found it very useful (just skip Dan's talking nonsense forward).
Of the products shown, I've only tried the Cerave Face moisturizer which I found to be a little too heavy but it was okay, especially as a starting point without spending too much money.

I use a very light face moisturizer from L'occitane which I also use as a post-shave. I like it because it absorbs instantly. But I don't have a consistent skincare routine. I know most women always, always wash their faces before going to bed and I just cannot be bothered. I'm not consistent with this routine at all.

Two things I got from this stream tutorial:
One. I have to get a face cloth and learn how to use it. She makes it look so easy the way she massages her face so graceful and beautiful, but it's definitely a skill to be learned which I totally lack.
Two. I must get some sunscreen and start using it. I totally overlook this and I'm going to pay the price for it.

Have a nice day.
