I went with Oud Monarch. I actually favor Oud Maximus, but that scent is a bit heavy for the spring imo,..

Again interesting how tastes and perceptions differ. I have described Oud Maximus in the past as the perfect spring and summer oud. That juicy citrus opening, the florals, oudy backbone and vanilla drydown. On me it doesn't wear too heavy. Anyway, I currently live in Sri Lanka, so I can only wear it in summer all year anyway haha

Funny you mentioned, because in dry down it is exactly oud maximus bones, but unfinished. Maximus gets more of that sourish rose, its more visible. So even though i dont love maximus, i would take that before Mysterious one.

You mean Maximus '19, right? The original has been sold out since a while, I believe...

To be fair, scents doesn't have a gender or a season attached to them. So if you like it, wear it.

Disagree. There is and gender and season. Are you able to pull it off - that is the question.

You are both correct. Fragrances do not have gender or season intrinsically, they are merely social constructs, so the attachment is made due to one's cultural environment. Different cultures associate various smells with different genders and seasons, if you go to the Arab world, you will find them wearing oud in the middle of summer or finding men wearing extremely floral fragrances.

Yeah, fortunately I still have 30/50ml in my bottle. I was just confused and thought you meant maximus on Bortnikoff's website. I also have not tried the '19 version. I love the OG but don't really need the' 19 one. Would be curious to test it for analyzing the differences tho...

Agree with all of this, and in addition you could also not give a damn, where what you want regardless of what anyone thinks, and create your own path. I go through phases like that from time to time, and it never really turns out as bad as I would anticipate and can be quite liberating. Another reason why I love this hobby.

That's the one. I believe he's an epidemiologist, who is also a fragrance lover. There was a nice interview on Fragrantica the other day that was mentioned earlier in this thread.

Rajesh is a man of many talents and passions. Many of his descriptive reviews have led to numerous purchases for me. He is right on the mark. A valuable member of the fragrance community and I hope he has many more collaborations with the master blenders.

Apologies if this has been addressed prior, but anyone aware of the usual order fulfillment time for ordering direct?

I wish Bortnikoff would do a strong lavender prominent scent. Something like Jicky...or Fields of Provence by Madhat.

Just visited luckyscent and saw they have promo for the colognes already. Was tempted to cancel my order from bortnikoff and ordering directy from them.

Went to product page and said they're only "pre-orders" and that the actual products would be arriving/shipping May 12. I'm assuming most of us will be getting our direct orders over the weekend or early next week then.

He isn't alone. I mean, he apparently is, but ALD is no better. We discussed that in the other thread. I think I was scolded for it, but these "premium niche houses" do business unlike any other premium product I have ever dealt with. Not very impressive with their CX and comms.

I know you said some watchmakers are similar, though. It is a headscratcher for me. When businesses are losing 30% of clients at a singular negative engagement, these guys are dinosaurs.

I'm cool with waiting. I just hate sending money out into the ether without a hint of communication.

Anyway, hoping to hear something or get a package by the weekend. Either would be nice.

Everything he said. It’s been a week now for me since I paid, with no communication other than “we have received your money”. They may not think these admin aspects are a big part of customer experience, but they would be wrong.

Customer experience is big thing in Usa and Canada and probably Britain, but not sure on the last one since havent visited yet. Other countries are much more relaxed in that regard. Also, its good to understand that they are not passing the cost of extra employees and faster better more complex systems on to you. If you are ready to pay roja money for 50 ml of Bortnikoff or Areej, go right ahead. I pay for ingredients and quality and creativity of the composition. I understand where you are coming from, so my best advise is buy from Luckyscent, sealed essense or any other store that carries them to receive that extra treatment that you require. Options are available. Dont want to come around as rude, just saying.
