Bleu De Chanel EDP Poor Performance?

I just purchased a BDC EDP 3.4oz bottle on Amazon, batch 7704 from last summer, as it was on sale for a whopping $91 USD. I got it yesterday, sprayed it, and minutes later noticed something was off.

I know something is off because of my previous history with BDC. I remember when I bought the EDT 4 years ago, and that being my first expensive cologne purchase, and was mesmerized by the smell, as well as it lasting ~6 hours for me. I only needed 2 sprays and was getting compliments every so often, and I could still smell it vaguely on myself as the day went on.

Now with the EDP I needed to spray it 5 times to even get a bit out of it, and that scent went away by the time I got to work, and then this morning again as I was driving to work the scent was gone.

Is performance that bad with this EDP? Possible bad batch?

EDIT: to add, I asked my coworker if I could hold my wrist to their nose, and they even said it was only noticeable if I was that close to their nose.

Maybe it's a fake? Since you bought it from Amazon, which is not a Chanel authorized retailer? And Bleu de Chanel EdP is also one of the most widely counterfeited perfumes out there.

I assume most people will have a good performance, there is just some batches that may have issues. Looking for those with the same batch code or within the same season (summer 2022) that have same issues.

Never smelled a Bleu Chanel EDP or any other Bleu version that wasn't pretty potent.

Another thing that raised a flag is the two words that RARELY go together, Chanel and Sale.

But overall, the entire line gives the expected perforce. The atomizer gives a fairly fine mist, so I spray closer to the skin and maybe a couple extra.

I have found the performance fairly good, but not a beast by any means. Had an incident where I'd done about 3-4 sprays at mid-morning, and several hours later I couldn't smell a thing, but a female neighbor said I smelled good. So maybe better performance than I thought.
Lately I sort of prefer Versace Dylan Blue as a substitute for the BdC.

But the BdC so far is my most-complimented frag.

So far-though based on quite limited tested experiences alone-never had any performance problems with Bleu de Chanel EDP.

I get about five hours or so with this one, the first two hours the performance is stellar then it starts to stay close to you. And this is from a bottle purchased a few months ago.

I recently bought the EDP and Parfum from Nordstrom and the while the Parfum smells great and has decent performance, the EDP smells like almost nothing. I thought maybe I was going nose-blind so I did an experiment:

I sprayed 2 different shirts with 5 sprays of each fragrance. Immediately after spraying I could just barely smell the EDP while the Parfum was fairly strong. I left the room and came back 15 minutes later: EDP smelled like nothing, Parfum was still going. I left the house for 3 hours and when I came back the EDP still smelled like nothing and the Parfum was faint but definitely there.

Is there something in this that some people just can't smell or has something changed? I sampled the EDP years ago and I don't remember having any problems with it. Maybe I should have bought it then.

You have to be careful with Chanel either buying directly from them or going to an upscale department store, Sephora.
