hi friends,

i am not a big fan of clones and i never tried Club de Nuit for a few years because i just love my original Aventus which i own and gone through 4x 100ml through the last years ..
i just bought the Armaf a week back for 30 Euros 105 ml .. my first wearing today - i am absolutely blown away by the quality... what the hell is going on ? i sprayed it on 9 hours prior and now i still get whiffs everytime i turn my head. it is that good ..

i never thought i would say that .. but i will never buy Aventus again :D - 10times more expensive and performs weaker.. what a joke

i am really that impressed

whats your thoughts on this one and especially clones ? any hot tips for me ?

cheers !
Robert

That is why it was (is?) so popular, and I wonder if you scored a 'vintage' bottle, I have heard the current versions pale in comparison.
there are many clone house fragrances out there that make purchasing the original pointless...but it also depends on your taste.
I have a list if you are interested.

I see a use for both if you have the coin to spare since CDNi goes after the older smokier style of Aventus, while current Aventus is far and away more about the pineapple, vanilla, and ambrox now.

I don't mind clones, but I do mind harshness. The base of CDNI is chemical trash. I understand how people smell the fruity part of the scent in the air and think it smells like Aventus, but Aventus has a very distinct (and rich) base. CDNI mostly uses norlimbanol (that bone dry fake wood / fake incense scratchy chemical smell).

One of very few frags I've gotten a compliment on. And she requested the name of the cologne.

I like it—and for the price it’s unbelievable. Still, I often find myself wondering what’s in it to give it such amazing longevity…🙃

I just find I have to go a bit lighter on the trigger with CDNIM (depending on the company and occasion) as with too much the birch note seems to expand and require a warehouse’s worth of space not to overwhelm everyone and everything. But on the whole, it’s brilliant and refined and works for me. And I love the bottle! 🙂

A quick question, as I’ve never used any clones before (dubious ingredients ?). what puts me off, is are these houses held to the same regulations and standards as IFRA regulated brands ?

No doubt Club de Nuits Intense has excellent lasting power, but I didn't think it smelled enough like Aventus. My nephew thought the same.
On the other hand Sillage definitely smelled very close to Silver Mountain Water to me.

I have two Aventus decants and both the EDT and the EDP versions of CDNI.

Aventus has a definitely smoother opening, and the notes, while basically the same, are slightly subtler and slightly better blended. (Emphasis on "slightly," because Aventus is not a creature of subtlety in any conceivable way.) That said, longevity is frankly subpar, particularly given the overblown price point.

(There are also slight differences between both decants, because they are from different batches, but both share the same fleeting longevity.)

The CDNI EDT suffers from a too-harsh opening, but once that's out of the way it's basically undistinguishable from my decants of the original, only louder. Longevity is also off the charts. Clothes will smell of it for weeks, and showers won't erase it from your skin.

The CNDI EDP has a much smoother opening (not as smooth as Aventus, though), and it is in many ways the better of the two.

In my humble, uninformed, despicable opinion, if you like the Aventus DNA, you're better off with the Armaf clones. Moreover, your bank account will be eternally grateful.

Oh, and no, clones are not lethal concoctions made with asbestos and cyanide by Saruman. You'll be fine.
