@Starblind, what a surprising turn of events! Guess they are not big fans of musk, eh? But it's great they found better homes for those Siberian Musk bottles.

My son is currently into Black Tourmaline, while my husband is pretty much a scent teetotaler, and I thought I could tempt them both with Siberian Musk, but no such luck. They like it on me quite a bit, and perhaps that's the problem: it has become MY scent, rather than one they could wear with impunity.

I understand perfectly where they're coming from. I had gifted my wife a bottle of SDV which she wore exclusively for months. Now I feel I'm wearing HER perfume whenever I wear SDV.

I hear Russian Adams Areej le dore's next few are almost ready for release.
Did anybody here get a chance to sample before the release ?

Just reading about this line now. Sad I missed out on Siberian Musk. Any idea what the new releases will include?

Bought some Oud Zen. Among other things it has a cerebral quality that I love and find useful. It has real inner depth and character. And texture! Makes me feel pleased and satisfied. My female partner might like it even more than I do. She says it smells like incense inside of an exploding black cherry. She shouldn't have taken the brown acid. There should be a hell of a lot more of these kinds of things. This is great stuff.

I'm interested in Oud Zen, however, reviews seem to be divided. Unfortunate that sampling probably wouldn't be an option for me...I'm tempted to blind buy but the prices are a little high for me to do that comfortably.

Some of them are being split in our splitter forum.

It isn't as well defined as some fragrances - different style and doesn't necessarily come off as something that typically smells great, but I love it. Probably not the bone structure that comes with more synthetics, but still has a strong engine, and excellent flesh from the abundance of high quality naturals. Still thinking about the best approximations. As epapsiou said, get a split, or better just a small sample. Half a ml is all you need. It's substantial stuff. Surrender to Chance could have some. I think you'll get a lot out of it either way. It's interesting, fairly strange, and plenty of fun. I'm smelling deep, rich animalics for what I remember as fourteen hours later. It's compelling and what I think of as a welcome cerebral stimulant. The whole thing might be read more accurately by the brain rather than the nose. Makes my mind, body and soul feel good, and I want more of this kind of thing

Atlantic Ambergris, Oud Picante and Flux de Fleur-which will have the same musk tincture used in Siberian Musk- if I remember correctly.

Good to hear, I have a sample of this that I was gifted and I'll get to it soon.

Unlike most fragrances the drydown is distinctive, complex, with heft, but never heavy, the inherently excellent fleshy, natural texture just better and better until it gradually fades out, which is well after twelve hours. That quality drydown is usually indicative of real artistry and competence in the perfumer. The fragrance is diffusive with pleasant, captivating, unobtrusive sillage for most of the duration. Brain food, really.

There's mentions to them on this blog.
Check of few pages back for more info regarding the names. I think one is called Atlantic Ambergris

Keep checking , for it could be at the end of this month that they may be released.
Here's the link ; http://www.areejledore.com/

There's a spliter here whose name is strifeknot
Very nice bottles . Nice new labels , and one of the best shippers ever.
He did get two bottles of Siberian Musk .
I am not sure if he has any left, but he will be splitting Russian Adams new releases .
So he is very much worth a check out.

So just keep checking .

Thank you, Pluran, for drawing attention to the drydown of Oud Zen. I also found it to be surprisingly complex and nuanced, with a honeyed vetiver feel that kind of reminded me of Onda. But since nobody else seems to have noticed it, I thought I was nuts or plain mistaken,.....now I feel a little gratified that someone else feels it to be noteworthy!

Thank you, pluran. Glad you could chime in with your experience of Oud Zen considering it is much less talked about than the other two.

Btw last time I checked StC still has samples of Oud Zen available.

I am about to start perusing this thread to digest some info, but I was wondering what the connection is between Areej Le Dore and Fragrance du Bois. I will have a chance to visit a Fragrance du Bois location soon, and would like to be a little more prepared. Is FdB just a high end niche boutique that happens to carry Areej le Dore?

Also, can someone fill me in on the reveered perfumer Russian Adam? Is that his real name or some sort of pseudonym? Is he known for anything besides being the nose behind Areej Le Dore?

FdB carries ALD? Would you be so kind as to provide source confirming the veracity of that? Personally I hope Russian Adam keeps winging it alone.

Hmmm I just checked the FdB website and see no ALD there. I seem to have conjured this up in my mind!

Finally had a chance to try Ottoman Empire. It opens with spicy peppers, skanky and furry oud, lush florals. Though smooth and juicy rose is detectable, honeyed and indolic jasmine is prominent among the florals to my nose. Indolic side of jasmine seems to amplify the skankiness of oud. Drydown reminds me of chypres of the past with it's inky, bitter, textured oakmoss and smoky resins. I also appreciate the shapeshifting and kaleidoscopic nature of Ottoman Empire. Everytime I brought my arm to my nose it's shown slight differences. All in all Ottoman Empire is a superb chypre with oriental elements. Solid thumps up from me.
