strifeknot, thank you for the clarification. But I'm even more grateful for your willingness to offer it up for splits. Hope to see more Areej le Dore splits when Siberian Musk Intense becomes available in a few months.

Two weeks?? I am incredibly excited! Diamondflame, do you know if he will be offering sample sets?

YES. Sample sets will be available. Looks like you're already at the head of the queue, lol...

100 bottles of each due to scarcity of material/ production capacity limitations . Launching in about TWO WEEKS! (according to Adam)

Better start liquidating those unused bottles/backups and free up your funds for the real deal 'cuz I foresee more splitters coming in this time round.

That's too bad. Maybe I'll just pass this time. Of the original three, I only love Ottoman Empire. Though the ambergris one sounds interesting.

Have you had the opportunity to try Salam's Ambergris in (aged since 2005) Mysore sandalwood? http://www.profumo.it/perfume/prodotto.asp?pid=5507

I must say I am sorely tempted but the price gave me reason to keep me in a holding pattern, lol. How would you describe the combination?

I haven't but would love to get my nose on another one. I'm waaay behind on Abdes Salam, Sultan Pasha too, as in have tried nothing from either of them. Primarily due to fear of another rabbithole...but I think after the Rising Phoenix pass, it's too late. Artisanal oils and ouds are fantastic, but as you mentioned and as the kids like to say - those prices tho!

My description of the ambergris attar, well, I find it hard to describe. Inviting, pleasant halitosis and buttery sandalwood is the best I can summarize it as for now :) It needs another wearing. Dusty, sort of dry and salty salty, a faint minty undertone, really interesting stuff. I've heard people describe it as the smell of licking your skin and letting it dry - that's not too far off.

Two weeks for new goodies, eh? Will keep my eyes peeled, thanks!

@IsoESuperman Omg, you're so right about the rabbit hole!

About the new trio, perhaps we could do a sample pass and share impressions here? The use of spray atomisers is not a good storage option IMO - the paltry samples evaporate really fast from them. Anyone else had that same problem?

A great idea if I've ever seen one.

Gah, I don't know! I hope not, I haven't checked on mine in a while...probably since I brought them to the Manhattan Meetup. When I got home I did parafilm the living daylights out of every gap, so hopefully that is keeping things intact. I'll check on them and report back tonight.

I got samples of Siberian Musk and Oud Zen, I am going to sample then when my cold (that just passed) is completely gone. I want to give these my undivided attention.

I would love to locate a sample of Siberian Musk if anyone has one - happy to either pass it around, or purchase remainder. I intend to purchase a bottle of SB Intense when it comes out, and I will be curious to see how the newer version compares to the original.

Get yourself a 5ml portion from strifeknot on the splits board before he sells out. Still available as of this post.

Interesting.

I almost bought MKK from the same seller a few months ago, whose price was otherwise reasonable and far cheaper than I could buy at retail here.

This is my son! He frequently sells off the fragrances I give him. My husband and he both sold the bottles of SB that I bought for them. They are not quite the fans that I am. :-(

My husband sold his bottle first for an amazingly low price, but my son is more of an entrepreneur and thinks his bottle is now worth more (he's young!). I've told him he may not get many takers at this price, but I guess we'll see.

I am quite confident that if you ask nicely he'll give you the "mom discount" (10% off!) should you need another bottle. :coolold:

Ha! I already have WAY more bottles of SM than I deserve or probably need (I traded two bottles of Ottoman Empire with BNers for more SM, so I'm fully stocked). Plus, I have to save my pennies for the ambergris fragrance that Russian Adam is coming out with in a matter of days!!

@Starblind, what a surprising turn of events! Guess they are not big fans of musk, eh? But it's great they found better homes for those Siberian Musk bottles.

Never got to try Siberian Musk. Is it that good? Is it being re-released?

You're not alone. Only 100 bottles were made, all sold out incl. overpriced samples from decanting site. To avoid charges of batch variations the perfumer will not be making anymore of it but is working on a slightly different formulation likely named Siberian Musk Intense but as far as the original goes, that was it.

How good is it?? Unless you prefer your musk on the dirtier side this is definitely one of the best musks I've ever had the pleasure to smell. You're apparently a fan of Diaghilev so I'm almost certain you'll appreciate Siberian Musk and its chypre-ish undertones.

Sounds great, will need to get my nose on it. Big fan of musk in the clean and dirty variety!
