Alpha terpineol smell

I don't really have any thoughts. If the sample you have is high quality, and you smell it like that, then that is what it is. Did you buy your Lindenol direct from IFF? Is there any possibility that the sample could have got contaminated, or "extended"?

I don't think the bottles have been contaminated (one bottle purchased at Hekserij over a year ago, the other at ScentFriends recently).

I don't mind; I made an Iris base (a Givaudan demo formula) with 24% Lindenol in it and I think it's lovely.

I don't detect urine smell in Tilianol Super, but the paralel with WD40 is valid to my nose. Not close, but in that neighborhood.
I really don't find WD40's odor unpleasant at all. I have it now on a paper strip.
