hopping for some og oud oils that will make my break my no buy till next year though iris ghalia is tempting
Out of the current selection, the Tigerwoods have a great heavy old school oud vibe(without too many ferment notes). Encens D’anghkor remake should be pretty good. The original of that oil was featured heavily in Sultan Pasha’s Aurum D’anghkor which is a masterpiece imho. I absolutely LOVE Nha Trang LTD and Pinoy LTD but they are pricey ones.

Current available oils that are amazing:

Encens d'Angkor
Borneo 50K
Yunnan Sultan
Borneo Reborn (haven't tried but based on sounds like Borneo 3000/4000 avenue)
Pinoy LTD (my favorite)

Tonkin Musk

Wow....this is completely NOT what I've expected at all, it's so much better!! I was expecting Tonkin Musk PP to be in the same ballpark as the EO2, Tibetan Musk, and other musk bombs with that spicey animalic bite and kick to it, but the image of Purple Kinam came into my mind instead!! Tonkin Musk PP open with a blast of exotic florals upfront, the mimosa and yuzu are apparent to me, followed by the unmistakable Tonkin Musk, it has this unique quality to it that you won't confuse with other variety, then came the wild ouds and sandalwood in the background. This is Full body, very rich and dense, the florals counter-balance the inky dark Tonkin nicely, this profile also has a creamy texture to it, remind me of Kulfi. All those listed notes are so well married and blended that I'm really having a hard time picking them apart. Even though it doesn't smell like the Purple Kinam, but it is giving me the same regal vibe, different notes but similar tonality, as if the Tonkin Musk is trying to give Purple Kinam a run for its money.

Compared to the Tibetan Musk PP, this Tonkin musk PP isn't as spicey, or as animalic, but it has more pronounced exotic florals, and the musk here has more depth, it latched onto the back of my nostril the same way NFU did. Tonkin Musk PP is creamier as well, they are just completely two different beasts altogether, with ZERO redundancy, nothing alike whatsoever. With that said, I simply couldn't pick one over the other, they are both great in their own rights. This stuff is potent, 1 spray and I'm starting to go nose blind to it when I keep trying to sniff my arms. This has got to be the most regal Musk composition I've ever gotten my nose on, very luscious, there isn't any funky type stuff here, it's oozing quality all over it. I wouldn't hesitate to wear this one with a nice suit, or tuxedo, to attend the corporate Christmas party. If you are a fan of Ensar's work on musks, you do NOT want to miss the magic oozing out of this one. To my nose, this is Purple Kinam grade, nuff said.

Edit 1: 2hr in - The creamy sandalwood came forward quite a bit more, the tonkin musk and a combination of white florals are still very much present thus far. The Ouds aren't very pronounced to me at this point, or maybe it's just blended in discretely, a more sensitive nose like what castingshadow got probably could sniff out the Ouds a lot more precisely.

Edit 2: 4hr in - More or less about the same, Sandalwood is at the forefront now. Ensar didn't tell us what the ratio of those ingredients are, if I have to guess, this smell like 1/3 florals, 1/3 sandalwoods, and 1/3 of musk, ouds, and everything else. I can see why a lot of the common spices from EO2 aren't in here, they probably would upset the balance and derail the florals and tonkin. This is very wearable and easy to like, hard to imagine this type of scent would offend anyone, the Tonkin is very smooth, at least to my nose.

Full Wearing after the shower -2 sprays to the upper chest, the Tonkin is a lot more pronounced and forward this time around. I"m getting the lavender, jasmine, and orris right off the bat too, still got the mimosa and yuzu, and it's still deliciously creamy. The Tonkin is most definitely the main player here, with Sandalwoods being a very strong supportive role, the florals aren't as bombastic as having just a single spray to my arm earlier. And just for clarification....this isn't as flowery as the Purple Kinam, it is very much still a musk bomb....a very smooth one at that. I think 2 sprays may have been too much, should have applied to the lower chest instead, my nose is going blind quickly...this Tonkin Musk PP has a ferocious projection.

Purple Kinam is a bit too florals for me. Tonkin Musk has different types of florals and is also much heavier on Tonkin Musk to counterbalance it. Purple Kinam was never a musk-centric scent, while this Tonkin Musk has the musk as the star of the show. They are two completely different scent profiles. Purple Kinam is also $1500, while the Tonkin Musk is $599, Tonkin Musk isn't cheap by any means, none of the EO is, but this is a steal in direct comparison to PK. Since I'm a huge fan of Ensar's work on musks, this Tonkin musks is a no-brainer for me personally.

I wasn't a fan of the fat-lady aka. Ottoman Empire 3 either, due to the heavy florals, but after months of trying...i've finally come around to it. Neither Purple Kinam or the Tonkin Musk gave me any of that grandma's purse type perception, FWIW. 😅 I can't wear anything with too much flowery stuff, if for whatever reason the Tonkin Musk turns even more florals later on, or my perception changed, then i would have to let it go, i'm bias more toward the animalic type stuff, wayyyyyy more excited for the return of IG 3.0 than everything else to be honest.

Aroha Kyaku - Got a swipe of this sample, mentholated smoke, like sniffing very dry oak charcoal with a heavy dose of camphor and white pepper type spicy sensation, almost made my eyes watery. lol Very interesting stuff, but I'm too sensitive to camphor. 😁

Might just be the photo, but the liquid looks somewhat browner and cloudier than the leather pouch version of Oud Yusuf.
Yes, I've read some comments on that before. For some people, uncluding me, the stuff seems to bit more cloudy than for others. I actually have to thoroughly shake it before spraying it as usually oil collects at the bottom and has to be "emulsified" with the rest of the liquid before spraying. IMG_20211124_184602.jpg

20211122_153125.jpg I think that's common with Oud Yusuf, due to the 50% oud oil concentration

Ah. I just never noticed the color change after giving the bottle a shake since the bottle usually stays in the pouch. Unshaken, it's fairly clear.

Oud Yusha - Got a swipe of sample. Thick molasses, with that syrupy texture, slightly minty, aged wood, got a vibe of dark soy sauce and a slight hint of stone fruits, a little bit of honey too. I'm not getting any florals. Remind me of Zaza Zen with the menthol dialed way down.

This is my first post here, as I’ve recently fallen way way down the Ensar rabbit hole. Just in the past 2 months I’ve spent at least 5X my annual scent budget. And now Iris Ghalia, encens d’angkhor, I had to have those too. When does it stop, people?!
It doesn't stop, so you better learn to curb the FOMO asap :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:;)
