it's not exactly the same, but try ordering from Mellifluence Scents on Etsy. They are fantastic, priced very reasonably, and use all natural ingredients. I love them and have blind bought at least 30 and am always happy with them.

AgarAssam is great stuff but it’s Eastern / Indian / Arabic tradition.

Mellifluence has a lot more variety. He uses great ingredients but ZERO aromachemicals (AgarAssam says they use zero too), and he produces attars that have more variety and interest to me and are worth collecting. They last 3 hours or so, and are not huge projectors, but they are really great.

Wow! I just received my sample of Rising Mysore and Brindaban. I was completely wrong in thinking that these would be bottled attars. First off Rising Mysore is the perfect blend of barbershop meets oriental. It opens with a spicy Tulsi, lime and patchouli blast quickly followed by a powdery lavender. This leads into a beautiful Mysore sandalwood drydown. I personally love Indian spices and this hits all my cravings in one offering. I layered this with AgarAssam’s Metei 2006 which is an aged Hindi Oud from a wild harvest over 75 years old. Perfect combo. Rising Mysore is fresh, spicy and reminiscent of that classic barbershop feel.

Someone had said that fans of Amber Cologne would enjoy this and while that may be true this is nothing like Amber Cologne. To me amber Cologne is all citrus and white florals with zero woods and very little ambergris. It’s a beautiful fragrance but to me Rising Mysore is pure masculinity. It’s not a beast but it lasts quite a bit longer. It’s elegant with exceptional blending and the complexity is awesome. I’m not a huge fan of linear scents because I have to really LOVE the fragrance and that’s very rare for me. I dig a little scent progression and I’m officially a fan boy.

Have you tried Tsuga Musk II?

What do you think of Brindaban?

What do you think of Brindaban?

A perfect dark, masculine and bold fragrance of authority in the same vein of Antaeus, Bandit and Or Black, yet surpassing them. Not my style, I much prefer Rising and then Charbagh, but it has no blending weaknesses, while the former is a bit light to my taste and the latter has some intimidating phases.

Next level.

So far I love it! The Oud, Sandalwood, Vetiver and patchouli are excellent. The oak moss is a nice touch and is really apparent in the heart. The dry down is excellent. I prefer Rising Mysore over Brindaban. Both are very similar but rising Mysore is basically a brighter Brindaban. For the price point it’s an solid blind buy if you dig the ingredients. Since everything is natural and aged, the description fits pretty well.

Just blind bought Hindi tabac along with a full bottle of emperor hind after ordering a sample of the latter, I think I prefer zakir's compositions over bortnikoff's , those are too floral for me(really love oud monarch and Maximus though). Emperor hind is as good as it gets and is in my top five oud fragrances along with Russian oud an eo1

Can you please add a little bit more when it comes down to comparison between russian oud and EO1, monarch and maximus to Emperor Hind. i am looking for an oud that is quite rude, authoritarian, but still elegant. i like OE1, but i find it a little bit tame, and dont get any skank. Maximus i easy wear for me, and once again, like EO1, its pretty tame, nothing wild about it. Monarch is a gourmand for me and is dusty cocoa galore on me. Didnt try russian oud, but tried luwak and i wasnt impressed by oud luwak at all. i didnt find a good connection between oud and rest of components in the perfume. Thank you.

It sounds to me like you equate oud with smelling like skank. Hindi oud is the only oud that’s skanky because of the fermentation process used before distilling the oil. I can assure you EO N 1 pure Parfum is the most oud forward, beautifully elegant oud offering on the market. It’s not versatile at all however you can’t deny the quality of the oud that’s used.

As for Emperor Hind it’s not even in the same ballpark as Oud Monarch. It’s an entirely different fragrance. It’s leathery, floral, citrusy, and backed by an excellence oud/musk/ambergris combo so I’d be cautious in comparing the two. If you’re looking for a skanky oud you should probably pick up Hindi Tabac. It’s an attar that Zakir makes using tobacco, ambergris, jasmine, and aged Hindi oud. Its quite pungent and hits the mark of dirtyness you’re looking for.

I will say though that if Oud Maximus, Oud Monarch, and E O N 1 aren’t considered oud forward fragrances to your nose I don’t know how much I can be of help. To me all of those perfectly showcase and highlight the different flavors and variety of oud in natural perfumery.

Hey, i think we have a misunderstanding. let me maybe expand and explain since everyone had different experience and scent associations.

"It sounds to me like you equate oud with smelling like skank." - i dont think of it as a skank, moreover, i yet have to try an oud that smells like poop or barnyard, and my words in original comment meant that what "other people" might think of oud or composition as skanky, barnyard...etc - is not something i am scared of, or something i will find as that.

i do have OE1 pure parfum myself, and i didnt say its bad, but from a personal perspective i dont find it as amazing one, along with oud maximus, which i as well have. i am just on a quest to find an oud centered perfume that i like without going bankrupt by bying full bottles blind, or by wasting money on saples that might be expensive. As for OE1, it is cold fluid leather to me, with furry texture and added rose and tobacco. that how i see it. Maximus is fermented rose oud combo backed by alot of ingredients that i cant break down separately but overall its pleasant composition, not shallow. Problem that I have is: after initial burst, it seems to mellow down on me and remain a little hazy. and same Haziness seems to occur with OE1 as well, whether its my skins reaction to musk or whatever it is, i dont know, but that is an aspect that i dont quite like. I hope this helps a little in explanation.

So, when "Robin Oud" mentioned that "really love oud monarch and Maximus though" and he added OE1 and Russian oud are among his top ones, i wanted to know how can he describe Emperor Hind in comparison to these 3 compositions that i as well have, and, Russian oud that i have somewhat an idea about. dont know about you, but when others compare fragrances, or elements to each other, it assists me in analyzing scent, and have an idea, should i shell out on it or not. I.E. bel ami and M by puredistance, they are different perfumes in general, but they share bones, difference is quality of materials, how smoothed out M is, with more depth, clarity....etc. There are parallels that people can draw that will help me and maybe others.

As you have mentioned, Hindid oud can be skanky, and that is the element in Emperor hind, along with amber, musk, ambergris, hyrax, civet. components listed in this perfume i am familiar with and have in pure form, and they can create, once again as some might say, a skanky composition, but at the same time, it might be composition that i am looking for. It has patchouli, resins, jasmine, woods, and overall it is very interesting composition on paper, and fits into an image of something in your face, authoritarian, strong perfume that has clarity in it. and on this note, let me as well add, that by authoritarian and rude i mean: masculine, strong smelling perfume, dense, something that people dont smell often and catches their attention in a pleasant way. Example of such perfume are: Interlude, M, BdP, Oro by bois 1920, diaghilev, Maai. Not belonging to this category would be something like : Agar ebene, L'instant EDT, encre noir, acqua celestia, definitely Oud monarch, at least on my skin.

As far as what you said: "I will say though that if Oud Maximus, Oud Monarch, and E O N 1 aren’t considered oud forward fragrances to your nose I don’t know how much I can be of help", they have oud in it, i cant deny that, and its nice oud, but i would hope to see a bit stronger presence of oud with more clarity, but without going into pure oud territory. Example would be Oud luwak, oud in there is main and in your face player, but i dont see support from other notes. Idea that would be in my mind for great oud that would suit the bill is Oud note from luwak, but placed with opening notes of M. i think that would be fantastic. but not limited to only that combination.

Phew, so thats it, hope this makes sense, i tried to make it into a logical chain. so once again, if that comparison, and a bit more in depth review can be done, i would really appreciate it :)

Hey I apologize! I’m stoned and thought you were replying to me but I read it wrong haha. It makes sense what you’re saying though but I think you’d be stoked to try out attars. Zakir does excellent oud forward attars that really bring out the depth of Hindi oud. Panbari Reserve is insanely animalic and is a straight up beast of an oud. If you want the full of Hindi’s id recommend getting the zen set from AgarAssam. It’s 4 attars and 4 oud oils.

Anymore has tried Emperor Hind? Curious to know if it is skanky or not, and if yes, is it "Dior Leather Oud" skanky, or much less than that.

they are nothing alike I just think they are in the same level of quality , emperor smells like an animalic oud attar , it's an elegant manly beast ,more animalic than eo1 and much darker than oud maximus, it's a bit smoky (the sea shells I believe) and the floral elements are not dominant
