Yep. I did a review comparing Myitkyina 4K and Siam 4K on my “channel” I rarely ever update it or post videos though.

Watched the video. Very in depth comparison. Also, it seems Myitkyina is a hard one to disect, you seemed a bit overwhelmed by it. Had you experienced it some more since then? Anyway, I went and bought a full bottle. I know the first round got sold out really fast, and this one is running low already. However, I see no bottles on the secondary market. Must be good ey?

I absolutely love it.

Myitkyina 4K is really nice. I’d say if you’re after fruit and berries it’s definitely a no brainer. Comparing it to Siam 4K is difficult because you have to draw parallels between two different regions with similar distillation techniques and high quality wood. On its own it’s fantastic and I actually wish I purchased it instead of Siam 4K. Myitkyina has that “interesting” thing happening with it where it has accents of fermented fruit, Cambodian-esque berries and incense but then also huge wafts of green Kinam in the base. From a Kinamic perspective Siam 4K is the clear choice but unfortunately after awhile it’s a little flat which is why Myitkyina at this point wins.

Sorry if I missed the discussion but...when is the release day for individual bottles? One week from the email or one week from the full collection release?

I tried Kalentan today and my first impression really matches Taha's description of it. it has that spicy peppery opened cola top note that stays for a long time, some short-lived citrusy nuances as well as menthol-like note. Then, it moves to a smooth woody base and I get some vanilla-like sweetness with some cinnamon but not as cinnamic as Khmer Kinam, after some time, I get hints of a green earthy note. It is not as thick or smoky as Khmer Kinam.

Got my sample set, and unfortunately my KtB vile had absolutely nothing in it :(

Kelantan is pretty potent stuff though. I get a spicy peppery opening with a touch of medicinal aspects, and it mellows out just slightly with a GREAT woodiness and hints of earth. It sort of makes me think of Agar Attar having a baby with Khmer, lol

Oh no that sucks man. KtB is what I'm looking forward to trying the most. Hope you can get your sample, and that more ppl here can post their impressions in the meantime.

Yeah it does, hopefully I can get it corrected. Also, now I’m about 5 hrs in to Kelantan and it’s producing a really nice cinnamon note! Going well with the continued woodiness

Khashab I also really enjoy so far too. It’s a lighter dryer woody smell than the woodiness of Kalentan, which seems richer darker and earthier. Khashab initially has almost a JSP Burvuvu thing going, but much more refined imo. It’s very airy to me, cut wood, maybe a little lemony incense to it after about 6 hrs in.

Kelantan has now dried out a bit more very late in the day, and I can finally get the hints of something sweet, probably vanilla. As someone else mentioned, I find the AA description very on point/accurate....which isn’t usually the case with most of the write ups on these major house sites, imo....so that’s refreshing.

Update: been over 12 hrs, still going pretty strong

I've tried all the previous releases except for Kinam Attar, and Kelantan is my favorite of the bunch. The opening is stunning, with a very prominent cola accord that is balanced nicely by dry woodsmoke. It has the green/earthy heart that I recognize from several of the previous ones, however, here it strikes me as dialed down a bit in sweetness/density/intensity. That works well for me, I can really enjoy it in this dose. There is a dry/sweet contrast is prominent throughout, and the drydown kind of reminds me of LADDM. A spicy dry/woody incense smoothened out by vanilla that goes on for ages. Too expensive for me at this moment but will look to pick one up if it is still around after a couple of weeks. Really good stuff!

Since I am no oud buff I don't think I'm in the target audience for AA to begin with, which I'm reminded of when trying KTB. The mind-bending qualities of kyara in KTB seems to elude me completely. It is pretty complex for the first hour, and I get lemony, mentholated, fruity, and woody aspects, but it doesn't move me in the slightest. And in under two hours all I can smell is Mysore sandalwood. I am aware that there surely are lots of nuances that are lost on me, but other oud/sandalwood fragrances with (probably very much) less expensive ouds (SPA Al Hareem and TRNP Zeeba, for example) really move and calm me, so I don't seem to be completely immune to the concept. Haha.

Hey av—- so amped to hear that Kelantan is good. Maybe I’ll see if I can score a decant.

On the KTB tip, I know Taha used one of his top tier ouds, Vietnan Special K. I own and love this oil. Probably my favorite Oud I have. But it took me several weeks to be able to smell it. It would kind of numb out my nose and give me almost a bit of a buzz but all I could smell was a vague honey type thing. This happens to me with lots of Agar Aura because my system seems to get overwhelmed by the fizzy/buzzy aspects at first. I’ve nearly sold a few and then had them “click” at the last minute. I’m not trying to hard sell you on these (believe me, my wallet has suffered from agar auara love) but if you’re interested in seeing if that’s the case, I’ll pass along one of Taha’s tips to get over the hump: put just a slim toothpick swipe on your wrist two or three days in a row, then put it away for 2-3 weeks. When you try it again, it pops out all 3D at you. Don’t know why but this has worked for me, even though it literally sounds like hocus pocus.

Hey, thanks, that's really interesting! I'll try that with my KTB sample and see what gives. Even though I'm terrified at the prospect of another stupidly expensive rabbit hole... Haha.

Thought about purchasing something from ALD today, but decided against it and bought Agar Attar.

In most cases I’d spend my money on Agar Aura before ALD. Both are quality, but AA is even more top notch imo. Congrats on the Agar Attar!

Question: How does Feel Oud compare with Agar Aura as far as style and quality? Similar ballpark?
