Scent Verse is a poetry project curated by Basenotes writer Eddie Bulliqi that seeks to explore scent language and metaphors by publishing poems from contributors across different industries that either take scent as their inspiration or are very evocative of smell.

Intertwined

by Dana El Masri

Do you smell the Jasmines?
Potent, Indolic, full of life.

Do you see the Jasmines?
In unison, forming petal clouds.

Do you hear the Jasmines?
Blooming bittersweet symphonies.

Do you feel the Jasmines?
As they intoxicate your soul?

I'll hold you close,
Like a garland of Tuberose.

It's hard, I know.
Will it ever be the same?

I see it in your eyes,
The story of our lives.
Intertwined like fine spices.
