Fashion designer, Issey Miyake, has died aged 84.

Japanese fashion designer, Issey Miyake, whose eponymous brand launched the ever popular L'Eau D'Issey fragrances in the nineties, has died of liver cancer, aged 84.

Miyake was born on April 22, 1938, in Hiroshima, Japan, and studies graphic design before entering the world of fashion. He worked with Guy Laroche, Hubert de Givenchy and Geoffrey Beene before opening his design studio in 1970.

Miyake entered the world of fragrance in the nineties in a partnership with Shiseido's Beaute Prestige International, with the launch of L'Eau D'Issey in 1992, and L'Eau D'Issey pour Homme in 1994.

He retired from the fashion industry in 1997 to devote his time to research.
